Here's to beer, without which we'd never have the audacity to Google an error message at 3am

Re: Coding under the influence

I remember that place.....alongside the even dodgier place near to the RBS over the road from Lidl (used to be Spread Eagle) with the even more avoidable health rating. Usually only ever ventured when being ejected from the nightclub formally known as Yuppies at 3am when the bouncers had had enough.

In fact at some point we were probably trawling the same pubs in 1994, AUL was legendary cos a beer crawl was simply a stumble from one pub to the next without having to focus too much. Shame it all ended the way it did

Re: How about a high power laser burst ?

Small problem with that, I doubt we have 20,000 police in the entire country never mind in the London area.

As for being secret, usually the kids near me can spot an undercover cop from miles away. At least I'm guessing that's the reason why they haven't caught the anti-social little darlings by now rather than the totally obvious excuse of being completely effing useless

It's not the pay, it's the fact that it costs far more for a person in this country to become qualified than most other places. Even nurses aren't simply trained up for the job but have to do a 3 year degree putting themselves into a minimum of at least £27,000.

Plus, I know a lot of native people who simply don't have the work ethic.

"work a 72 hour week so that I can come out with less than the checkout operator at Aldi doing a 40 hour week? Screw that" as I heard one young person contemplating studyng for a career as a junior doctor exclaim.

I for one couldn't give a rat's arse where someone comes from as long they work hard, pay their way and have a useful contribution to society. I'll happily send my native "no intention of working, state owes me a living" neighbours back the opposite way.

Try accessing online course content for Uni. 95% of it relies on Flash whch means I can't access it from work PC's (break only, I'm not dodging work to study), from my ipad nor from my browser on my tv. I have an old siloed laptop which isn't connected to anything else and I'm not ars@d if it gets bricked but it means I have to wrestle the kids for it if I want to join my classmates and tutor for online lessons.

Seriously don't envy the guys having to repair those fibre cables whilst having CEO of whichever shit company screaming down the phone to hurry up.

From memory a 10 metre length of 360pr fibre used to take us around 12 hours to replace after the locals mistook it for copper but this was around 25 years ago and we did have Intercity125's whistling past every now and then due to the reluctance of British Rail to stop trains allowing us to work without interruption.
