Tesla admits it was asked to hand over Autopilot, Full Self-Driving docs to investigators

Re: Documents?

I remember a cold open from Knight Rider, with a ariel view of KITT at speed, with a voice over of a high tension debate over with KITT & Michael making the upcoming risky maneuver in order to catch the car they were in pursuit of.

Michael fails to make the maneuver (Icon) out of shot & the camera POV switches to the interior where he is playing a game while KITT is driving.

Bad enough when the driver is doing that, but to have the cars computer offering tactical gameplay (While awaiting its turn?) & itself not focusing on the road seems to be the next illogical step.

Back in the day, in a different career, we burned a load of viscount seats that were covered in seagull shit from our disused hanger that was used as a dumping ground/salvage.

Apart from the foam & fabric burning, we discovered that the frames were a magnesium alloy & gave off a very bright white light, I wouldn't want to be in one of those seats in the event of a aircraft fire, but probably past caring at that point,

I fitted a Android Head Unit in my truck it has the CANBUS adaptor which has given me lots of helpful info displayed on the screen, but since the tinny little speaker did not give a clear sound, I have been spared the chime alerts as I left it unplugged.

The cheap little DVR\dashcam (which also plugs in via USB) after a firmware update also has Advanced Driver Assistance System which does tend to panic over its idea of where the lane actually is in relation to the truck, though it is quickly muted.

User was told three times 'Do Not Reboot This PC' – then unplugged it anyway

Snotty Service Manager

Last place I worked at we received a email complaining that the mandatory updates being pushed to the field service techs laptops could cause the very expensive bricking of a Combine Harvester or other large scale construction vehicle when they were connected to the VPN via their phone & also causing excessive data charges, while working on-site in the middle of a field*.

My handle (Icon) came into full force as my reply stated:

They have already deferred this update twice, now it's mandatory.

When the update is applied the laptop displays a countdown warning that they have\had 90 minutes to complete their task before reboot or reboot first.

If they bothered to connect their laptops to the network, while on company premises they wouldn't be receiving mandatory updates in the field using expensive mobile data in the first place.

Having given the above information, further advised that the only person responsible for bricking a combine harvester would be the technician.

*We had one ticket come in complaining he couldn't connect to the internet to download updates for the combine he was working on, with his phone as a access point when he was in a area of no connectivity for his phone. I responded perhaps he should try contacting Rogers & ask if they wouldn't mind improving their coverage to include the farmers field or perhaps try to download the patches before he left for site.

Re: Work bomb scare

My reticence to do so was out of the thought of concealed camera's for each carriage & the wider implications of the loss of the briefcase other than inconvenience to the owner.

Given my application to emigrate was in progress, I needed a clean sheet on my police records.

But I was very very tempted....even to just move it down another carriage just to induce a panic state in the individual concerned when he returned prior to exiting the train to collect his belongings.

Re: Work bomb scare

Two Instances:

1: Sand (Dredged up from a sandbank) was being shipped in on the back of lorries as part of building works at the Pharmaceutical plant not too far from the Dartford Tunnel & as the sand was being tipped, somebody who was actively paying attention spotted the tail fins of a UXB amongst it.

2: Travelling back home by train, a few weeks after 711 I boarded my train out of Paddington as per usual (Ahead of the crowds still on the concourse), a few seats away another early boarder was putting his bag & coat on the train, I paid him little real attention as he walked off to the lavatory as I presumed.

The train pulled out & a standing passenger asked, whose expensive coat & briefcase was taking up a empty seat & had anybody seen the owner. Having been on board the train for some 15 minutes by now, seeing no return of the owner & envisaging a major incident on the lines in\out of London.

Not surprisingly people got a little concerned at this & flagged it to the train manager, train halted at the next station & surrounded by cops, while the train manager advised passengers of the terror alert & would the owner of case & coat if he was still on the train make himself known.

Upper class person returns, "Yes its my hat & coat..... What's all the fuss about....I only left it while I joined my chums from 1st Class in the buffet.....Really what's all the bother about."

The looks he got (If he noticed them) ensured he retreated back to the buffet, which was probably his intent anyway & left his stuff behind again. As the train reached each station I half expected someone to walk off with it or throw it out the window. I know I was extremely tempted to do so as the train passed through the Somerset Levels.
