The inevitable rape joke.

Why do people find prison rape culture funny? What is wrong with you?

Re: What about the artists?

"the most significant roadblock on the path to sustainable growth, where certain online user upload services the music industry exploit(s) music without returning fair revenue to those that are creating and investing in it,"

I read the comment in article, and had a similar feeling to you. I guess 'they' feel that the promotion of music for sale (investing in it) is more important to them than providing fair revenue for artists (creating it).

Re: Re "putting the phone down is almost always the right thing to do."

@platelet - Wow - 102 starts pretty standard, (with some very long and incredibly cringy advert-plugs) but by the end, its a very, very interesting insight into the tech scam world; not that far away from a 16/17 year old in the UK finding themselves in a double glazing cold call office.

Thanks for posting!

Re: Call me cynical...

Interesting - this may be the 'alternative motivation' dissonance I was picking up on. Thanks for the insight.

Call me cynical...

Speaking at the Geneva Motor Show, Manuel Marsilio of the Confederation for the European Bicycle Industry, an EU lobby group, said: "Bicycles will definitely have to communicate with other vehicles."

Happy to be corrected if you know different, but a lobby group called 'Confederation for the European Bicycle industry' speaking at the Geneva Motor Show sounds rather a lot like like double speak for:

'Motor Industry Lobby Group Trying To Suppress The European Bicycle Industry'.

Re: As long as I am asked

@Diogenes - I agree. I would happily give a low percentage of cycles to support a website. This includes elReg - I'd happily flick a '10-30% mine to disable ads' switch.

Honestly, I really want to support content that I like. I'd be happy to spend electricity on it. I much prefer this to opening my consciousness to manipulative, mind washing advertising pushed at my eyeballs (https://www.forbes.com/sites/ajagrawal/2016/06/12/how-nlp-can-boost-your-marketing-influence/#26b0e1717c13).

That said, there are a number of players who rely on selling advertising to make lots of money. Viable alternative to advertising? Expect big players to bring out The FUD Gun!
