Only buy phones that have pure Android on them, or can take a pure OS image.

Re: Battery life
Yes because in the UK where expressing an opinion based on facts about "immigrants" can get you jailed, they won't create a law to fine you for an uncharged phone.
Re: Government-supplied phones, then?
Anyone in the USA that wants a phone can get one, they have programs for this.
Yes, if such a law passed then hiding your phone from the network would become illegal as well.
The truth is people today can't live without their phones, and with payments apps, people are buying with phones.
You won't really need a law to make carrying a phone mandatory, if you simply can't get anything done in life without one.
On the off chance some of you are concerned, use a Faraday bag.
I purchased one myself at Signal Tactics Faraday Bags, it works. There are a lot of people selling variations it's worth a peak if you ever want to have your phone with you but not have it connected (including connected without you knowing, such as when the power is supposed to be "off").
More likely we will see complaints from the Martians about the drones invading privacy.
Chased off by racing drones, I guess none of them had a shotgun....
Apple's magical quality engineering strikes again: You may want to hold off that macOS High Sierra update...
If they used Time Machine to back up, it's a minor affair to restore to prior state.
It dims when the pupil swings this way.
Who trust McKinsey?
I don't, a little read up on them shows they have been tied to corruption consistently.
Not that I'm against diversity (though you could argue that I am in the most contemporary interpretation of the word) just that I'm certain there's much more to the success of these companies than "diversity".
Ubuntu... the Microsoft of the Linux world.
Not so sure about video games, but violent TV, movies and the constant coverage by the news media definitely gives some of the weaker minds out there ideas.
Humans are an imitative species, we are very good at it, and I feel the excessive media influences copycatting.
If it bleeds it leads... indeed.
Never mind the Typhoon, get some of those Chinese J20's.
It's a scam, and they are all in on it.
Mind you not that I mind if Verizon gets scammed.
So it is a Macbook with a touch screen basically....
Re: Yes, that's what a Spectre attack is
Interesting, so this has been a known vulnerability for some time. I suspect that's all anyone needs to start a class action lawsuit, and following that when the stock drops, invest in Intel for the subsequent rise in value once they address the hardware issues.
So I can assume that anything under High Sierra is still vulnerable? How do these exploits affect Virtual Machines?
Women beat men to jobs due to guys' bad social skills. Whoa – you mad, fellas? Maybe these eggheads have a point...

Re: I have my doubts
Nothing Apple states rings true to me.
I have my doubts
Apple recently repatriated a large amount of cash, I think this has something to do with their "best quarter ever".
Does Dell make anything worth using?
Uber bikes onyl available in San Francisco
Because that's the only place with people foolish enough to use them.
Well if you do go into INFOSEC be careful where you get your training.
A lot of the "schools" and training programs are scams and/or poorly laid out.
I bought myself one to replace my 2009 Macbook pro, format, clean win10 iso onward.
Also got it cheaper than the 1999$ Macbook pro selling on Apple right now, and with better specs than the Apple.
Years ago, when I did tech support at a large chip manufacturer, we called it "Look Out".
My ship can do that in 12 parsecs.
There's no way they are just removing "hate speech" (whatever that means these days).
A 2 hour window means they are tossing anything remotely offending, including the truth.
When you're old and retired, I hope one of those giant stacks of magazines (or DVD's if you prefer) in your home does not collapse on you.
Butt plugs, mock cocks, late pay and paranoia: The world of Waymo star Anthony Levandowski… by his kids' nanny
Sounds more like a spy than a nanny.
I've often wondered if it were possible to compile your own browser minus all the things that irritate.
This is as close as I've seen, but not quite there yet.
This is just a way of getting naive users to go along with the data rape, calling it a "feature".
I had a dog that said "hi", I'm not kidding either.
Everyday for I came home and said "hi" in a high pitched voice to my doggos, eventually one would run up and make like it was doing a yawn with a high pitched sound... but I realized it was making the same sound every time "hiiiii".
I'll be impressed

Re: I just received my P71 laptop - built like a REAL Thinkpad
I also purchased a P71, so far so good.
Re: Next time, Dell
Just bought a Thinkpad P71 for xmas, all that was on it besides the standard windows OS and Office items were some Lenovo apps for support and overclocking.
They stopped adding the crap, too many people complained.
They no longer need to include the OS DVD, you simply download it from M$.
I put Linux on it anyway, have to say that as far as PC laptops go it's pretty decent.
I made the switch
Bought a Lenovo Thinkpad P71 for xmas, running XUbuntu (currently might switch after they fix the bug) and I haven't looked back.
The motivator for me was how horrible Windows 10 is (IMO). I still run Win7 on my gaming box and MacOS on an iMac for other task.
Just for giggles I run a Mint 18 VM on the Thinkpad too (I only web surf through VM's never on the host).
I bought an HP desktop for my father, called them up 2 days later to return it because it was such a piece of junk.
The person on the phone asked me if I would take a massive discount in price to keep it... I said "I wouldn't keep it if you gave it to me".
I do not feel HP does anything good any longer.
"Neural networks sort stuff – they can't reason or infer"
That sounds a lot like most of the humans I see.
"No? What gave you that idea and why would it even make sense?"
It makes sense when you start communicating in what you think is a private mode.
it also makes sense in that she stated what is well known to be a fact, the sex crimes are majority "Asian" men in Europe.
In the USA they neatly dodged any obligations of privacy or freespeech via legislation.
If a private company offers a service they are not bound by the same "freedom of speech" rules that the government is.
Very simply, the thing you state "makes no sense" actually does make sense, both public and private comments should stand unless they are calling for violence.
I'm reminded of a poem that starts with "First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist." only this time it's forms of communication.
So, the modern version would be "first they came for the hate speech and I did nothing".
Read the poem if you don't get where I am coming from.
What starts as something reasonable soon becomes something else entirely, this seems to be a common thread in human history.
I too was fascinated by "Netzwerkdurchsetzungsgesetz", seemingly a noise that would be made if you happened to German and stubbed your toe.
Also, I'm not apologizing for my juvenile sense of humor.

Don't forget the OS security flaws.

This phone comes with the stock Android image from Google? Additionally can I add the stock image to it?
WTF is "shed man"?
Now if we could only get the telcos to lower prices and truly allow unlimited data without throttling.
No surprise Apple failed (yet again) but what about gmail?
EDIT: Never mind I see that gmail is not affected.
Ummm yeah... cept planes aren't doing 500mph when they are low enough to be hit by a drone, in addition planes are designed to take hits from large balls of hail which are as hard as or harder than most components on a drone.
Look at the average DJI quadcopter and then take a look at the average goose, which planes are designed to survive impact worth.
