Was it Wednesday or Thursday? I thought it was yesterday evening (and still this morning) that I was having trouble posting to twitter. I know that the US is behind (time zones people, time zones) but I didn't realise that they were that far behind.

Why Stop At Kids?

Shouldn't this be about what is right rather than what is feasible? My reaction to this was why stop at kids' adverts, let's ban airbrushing in adverts outright, not just in beauty related ads, but all ads, I should think that food adverts would especially (not) benefit.

Statistics

You seem to have fallen into the same trap as the rest of the media. All the statistics quoted (1/3 - 1/4 of pupils) refer to *receiving* messages, and as we've heard, one message/image can go around a whole school, surely the real statistic is the source of the image, that would show the number of people this is doing harm to.

IMHO most of us don't realise just how water/dust resistant our ordinary cameras are. Far from "they don't make things like they used to" I think compact cameras are a good example of modern products that are very resilient. I still use a three year old IXUS that has been through the wars, and apart from a spot of dust on the sensor (I tried taking it apart, the lens and sensor are a sealed unit) which becomes visible when you zoom in it works perfectly, I'm especially impressed by the continuing battery life. My girlfriend's IXUS recently got very wet with sea water (she swears it was my fault), and funnily enough it seems to have caused a slight mechanical problem rather than electronic or optical, but nothing catastrophic. Similarly my Nikon DX0s and lenses have all lasted very well despite my maltreatment.

I had the same experience: I ordered (and wanted*) an 8GB SSD but got a (blank) 160GB HDD.

I am a little confused because it looks like if you order the 160GB version it will cost you more like £180, whereas I paid £150 for the 8GB version.

If you're searching around for the Linux version try model R3600L.

* I wanted an SSD for it's quietness, but the HDD *seems* quieter than the fan anyway so it may be a non-issue.

It seems to be made by http://www.openpeak.com/ and the review said that it's linux based, so presumably you can get at least some of the source and it's based on an Atom processor so presumably it wouldn't be difficult to boot.

Don't think Tor does what KazR describes. Tor is for anonymity, I think KazR was describing flooding the network with meaningless packets.

Reminds me of another case (or two) where some plane spotters were arrested and held (for a bit longer than a day) for taking apparently innocent photos. Maybe we were just getting our own back :)

I thought that the logging and "confetti" was only applicable when the taser was fired, ie, not in "gratuitous police torturings" where, presumably, you would do one of your common or garden "drive stuns".

Shame About The Camera

I have a Touch HD and it sounds like this has the same problem with the camera: The quality is really good but the camera is virtually useless because of the time it takes to take a picture, a real shame :(
