Re: That line goes back further

OK. I'm sorry. I was born 1987 and though in the depths of my soul I knew it was a ripoff (what isn't in the charts?), it didn't click with me after 30 mins of trying to come up with a fancy headline. It was closest reference point I recognised :(

Wow, machine learning, what a snoozefest... less so if you strap a bunch of GPUs to your storage

Excellentsword

I'm with you. Let consumers use what GPUs are actually for, which is getting dank fps on game in resolution of choice.

Vaping on the NHS? Don't hold your breath

Excellentsword

Re: I found it stupidly easy to 'give up' with vapes.

I too have had no difficulty with smoking since picking up a vape (son born, didn't want to stink of smoke for him and missus who had to go cold turkey). Problem is, I vape like it's going out of style, sit there working, puff, puff, puff. I hate addictions.

Re: "containing a myriad of nutrients and food additives"

"A myriad of" is wrong, it's like saying "a seven of". However, I don't sub the BMJ and inserting [sic] felt too nerdy.

Amount of pixels needed to make VR less crap may set your PC on fire

Excellentsword

Re: Glasses anyone?

I have wondered, but I'm assuming headsets can fit over them. I've started wearing contacts so it's less of an issue. Still, I'm a big "gamer" who has yet to try VR. Why? Because I knew from the beginning that it's a big fat gimmick unable to truly rival experiences with a monitor, and in part due to the issues outlines in this article. Sure, it's a different experience, but it's not really useful, it doesn't give an "edge".

Fluff

Can't help but think everything since the Start button has been fluff, and I barely ever touch its equivalent now except to type-search for a specific file. Otherwise it's boot, open Steam/Origin/browser and away I go. Stop trying so hard, Microsoft.

Writer here (badge doesn't work). The Expanse is amazing, granted, but I watched it on Netflix. Farscape was good too, but I watched it on BBC 2 as a young'un. I associate Syfy with Xena: Warrior Princess-tier stuff, but know that I write these things with tongue planted firmly in cheek.

Proposed Brit law to ban b**tards brandishing bots to bulk-buy tickets

Excellentsword

If you're paying more than £30 to see anything, you're doing it wrong

In myyyyy day (five years ago) you could arrive at the door to any rock venue in Camden and get in for a tenner to see internationally acclaimed bands. Now you do normally have to order in advance if you want to get in, but it's generally done through the promoter. Touts don't even come into it.

Re: "Kraut" ? really ? in the 21st century ? after 70 years ?

I perceive kraut as an affectionate nickname with no offence intended i.e. krautrock. Should we call it weirdo, minimalist, German music to take drugs to? No.
