Self-taught Belgian bloke cracks crypto conundrum that was supposed to be uncrackable until 2034

the Kris

A self-taught Belgian bloke? Unlike a self-taught mechanic, becoming a Belgian bloke requires being born in Belgium.

Compensating tax cuts

Trump is compensating tax cuts for the rich with import tariffs that are eventually paid mostly by the middle class US buyers.

Re: (misleading stats)

Failed comparison.

You're comparing a paragraph hidden in a 233 page document, which we can call a surprise needle in a haystack, to axis that are extremely clear. The fact that the 1st comment is about the axis shows just that, it is not hidden.

If the axis both went from 0% to 100% it would virtually show no information, that would be a useless graph.

You sound like the type of person who needs a warning on a box of razor blades: "Do not swallow, external use only", to prevent you from doing just that.

I can agree with the comment to have them at the same scale.

Self-driving bus in crash just 2 hours after entering public service

the Kris

Re: Sigh ...

The CRASHED annoyed me as well.

On the other hand, the bus did not get 'dented by a clown who wasn't looking in his mirrors?'.

The bus approached a semi that was already reversing onto a terrain, the bus should've left enough room for the tractor to manouver while backing up. The bus was dented by the tractor, not the trailer, says enough.

the Kris

The details are available, didn't mark the link though.

The truck was already reversing onto a (factory?) terrain, the bus should've stopped earlier, it stopped so close to the tractor it was on the part of the road the tractor and/or the front (!) of the trailer would pass over.

A human driver would've left the required space.

Re: It's 'only' 16 bit and 44.1KHz CD

If you do hear a difference, it's because the 2 media have a different master, one better than, or simply different from, the other.

Double blind tests have proven over and over again that no-one can hear the difference if the same master is used and the correct sampling techniques are used.

Efficacy

Other way around, LP sodium lamps are more efficient than any LED assembly (driver+actual led's) currently available at a reasonable price. On the other hand, LED's allow for a more directional lighting so you could get away with less lumen (and less watts) for the same road area.
