A few reasons why cops haven't immediately shot down London Gatwick airport drone menace

MrKrotos

Re: shoot down the drones using a rifle or a shotgun

Lol, do you even know what "drone" means?

Drones and Helicopters are VERY different, for starters it takes much longer to learn how to fly a helicopter, most drones can be flown by anyone!

MrKrotos

shoot down the drones using a rifle or a shotgun

Good luck with that!

I fly RC Helis and Planes, we have often had friends trying to shoot at our models for fun (legal shotguns on private land). Even shooting an RC Helicopter is VERY hard let alone a drone!

London's Gatwick airport suspends all flights after 'multiple' reports of drones

Audio applications

This just confirms to me that Windows 10 isnt any good for audio applications. One of the previous "updates" knocked out my ASIO driver and killed the audio sub-system. I tried it for 2 weeks untill that happened.

So..... back to Windows 7 for me on my Music Production and DJ machines!

Dell upping its margins again: Precision 5530 laptop will sting you for $13m. Yep, six zeroes

MrKrotos

Strange price?

This reminds me of the time I saw a banner on ebay for some product @ £3.999

Not sure how the change will work for that :P

Congrats from 123-Reg! You can now pay us an extra £6 or £12 a year for basically nothing

MrKrotos

Re: Leave 123-Reg

123 are RUBBISH! Stay well clear!

Charging extra money, loosing domains when being transfered, forcing you to grab the .uk after purchaing a .co.uk

I hate 123, I had nothing but issues with them.

The worst part was thier "support" services asking me for my username and password over the phone, I asked to speak to a manager who then said and i quote "Its okay as we have secure telephone lines" WTF? Security? What security!

Try namecheap, they cover the WHOIS info for FREE!

Which? That smart home camera? The one with the vulns? Really?

Ad watchdog: Amazon 'misleading' over Prime next-day delivery ads

MrKrotos

Amazon is crap

I refuse to use Amazon for the simple reason that the whole process of buying something and checking out takes way too long and is VERY confusing for us NON prime members.

Tried using it recently for an urgent work item, ended up using a different supplier.

Why do people assume that training should be provided by the company?

Training is YOUR reasonability, it’s YOUR skill set and you are responsible for it.

It walks, it talks, it falls over a bit. Windows 10 is three years old

MrKrotos

If only!

"the Windows 7 hold-outs should finally feel able to make the upgrade" -- Not here!

Not till Windows 10 actually works well with music production software like Cubase Pro and DJ software like Traktor.

I have tried and tried but the OS is just a nightmare and kills off creativity within minutes (creating music etc requires a working machine that just lets you get on with it).

Sadly with Windows 10 I spent more time trying to workout why ASIO was failing after an update, oh and the display driver was forcibly replaced with a non working one that just BSODs the machine!

Creative Update my arse!

Heatwave shmeatwave: Brit IT departments cool their racks – explicit pics

MrKrotos

Why is this even a story?

This is normal for us Brits, I remember building a server with bits from Simply Computers many years ago. It had a ton of 9.2GB SCSI drives in it that ran hot enough to fry an egg on, obvs we took the front panel off and stuck a desk fan infront of it to blow through. Worked like a champ for years :P

Forking hell. It's summer, and Windows 10 is already thinking about autumn

PDFs in Edge

@soulrideruk, I have also given up on Edge because it crashes opening PDFs, I have the same issue and know there are many more as I have looked in to it (for work, I am not interested myself).

Nice Joke, you do realise that nothing is built to last that long now-a-days?

Even modern cars are only built to last 6 to 7 years now

Gemini goes back to the '90s with Agenda, Data and mulls next steps

MrKrotos

I have the Gemini PDA

Its not as good as people think, the keyboard (even after they *fixed* it) is still rubbish and the space bar doesnt always work. You have to smash the shite of off the keyboard to get it to actully type anything.

The design of the Gemini keyboard (as in the way it pushes against the screen when closed) scratches the screen!

Viewing the screen in bright daylight is almost impossible.

The audio jack for headphones has an earthing/connection problem (lots and lots of crackling noise if you move the plug at all).

Its okay for the money I paid for it (project backer) but I would be taking it back if purchased for full price @ retail, its just not ready yet for retail.

Amazon, eBay and pals agree to Europe's other GDPR: Generally Dangerous Products Removed from websites

MrKrotos

Re: I though this 'cloud thingy' was supposed to improve availability? Pah! Bah Humbug.

And you lap up everything MS says in their marketing?

If you think Office365 is a cloud service I have a bridge for sale.

Its basiclly a custom Exchange setup, it is not a cloud service.

MS keep very quiet about that little fact lol

MrKrotos

I though this 'cloud thingy' was supposed to improve availability? Pah! Bah Humbug.

Office 365 ISNT CLOUD!

Its a hosted service, nothing cloud about it at all!

Patch or ditch Adobe Flash: Exploit on sale, booby-trapped Office docs spotted in the wild

MrKrotos

Watched the YT vid etc still not sure if this exploit requires access to macros in Word to action?

All I saw in the YT vid was someone running something in a browser that asked to run, then after hitting "yes" ran an App. What am I missing?
