Re: The UK autonomous weapons

Luckily, not many people group together under water and "torpedoes" are like a fish out of water on land.

Torpedoes with facial recognition, that's a good one. On an unrelated subject, does anyone want to buy my chocolate fire-guard?

Re: Am I missing something?

"The article seems to be mocking the subject matter of a magazine because the author of the article finds it funny that someone might find detailed specialised information relating to something outside their experience necessary, relevant or even interesting. This seems to be an unfortunate angle to take on a website aimed at technical people."

100% agree with this. It seems like this information would be of importance to people who carry out maintenance on warships. It isn't like they are buying it from their local WHSmiths and rushing home with it.

I was going to say the same thing. Maybe a little more research was needed in this article, instead of making wild assumptions... because we all know who assumption is mother to.

Well, it says "his twin brother"... so I'm just guessing here, but I would say he is probably the same age +/- 10 minutes.

I do not see the correlation between the story and your example. All you have done is attach something great we (mankind) have done to this story to mock it. It makes you sound really clever, I'll do the same and see if it works for me.

Re: "Absolutely no one can make sense of the United States' infatuation with firearms."

Damn you, I thought that paper was real when I started reading.

"Reports of periodic attacks on opal miners in Coober Pedy may be apocryphal and related to excessive consumption of cooling amber fluids in dry areas." - they were drunk.

Then I skipped to the references:

CRIKEY, O. & BEAUTY, U (2008) - O Crikey and U Beauty

MULDER, F.W. & SCULLY, D.K. (2000)

SKYWALKER, L. (2008) ‘May the force be with you: a study on the protection from drop bear attacks’

Good laugh, thanks for the share.

How do they fit all the gun parts in there and still have it make clearer calls than the iPhone?

Message to fanboys: I have had iPhones since the 3G, still have one, but they are shit for making calls.

Your assumption is that only good people will carry these "phuns" (copyright pending).

To counter, once the innocent people aren't sure whether a phone is actually a gun... they all live in fear.

Re: Pedant Alert

I should have revisited this thread earlier. I’m reading some interesting and informative posts from GNHQ itself, no fewer.

It's a website, OxfordDictionaries.com, God knows where the '.com' went; maybe I deleted it.

I do enjoy reading comments where the GNs start correcting each other. Great stuff… keep up the good fight.

You're going out on a limb there. Forums are full of the 'no less' v 'no fewer' arguement.

Re: F. Scott Fitzgerald...

"Towed sonar"? You said it was the thickness of headphone cable and now you give an example of a Towed Array. I'm guessing you don't know how thick Towed Array cable is, think about it, it is dragging a Sonar Array through water. "deflates some of the sillier objections", more like it shows your lack of knowledge in this field.

I am struggling to work out whether you are trolling or you just over-simplify problems in order to give your solutions (at crayon drawing level).

I’m not a SpaceX fanboy, hadn’t heard much about it until reading this article, but your continued criticism could be an example of what fanboyism becomes when someone’s live stream goes down.
