xHamster reports spike in UK users getting their five-knuckle shuffle on before pr0n age checks

Re: They won't apply to sites on which porn makes up a third or less of the content

There's a cableporn sub on Reddit. If that doesn't get you going, nothing will

Re: But...

It's still a private thing with the lights on. Unless you're inviting people in/leaving the curtains open.

Mmm, yes. 11-nines data durability? Mmmm, that sounds good. Except it's virtually meaningless

"acts of God"

Being pedantic here, but please don't use "acts of God".

Gives undue succour to people who believe in nonsense. Natural Disasters, or a similar synonym is perfectly good.

Infrastructure wonks: Tear up Britain's copper phone networks by 2025

"Without infrastructure competition, the existing provider has poor incentives to build new fibre networks, as this undermines its existing copper based services."

Except that there is competition. Virgin Media, Hyperoptic and some others that I may be unaware of have built (or inherited) their own infrastructure. Issue is that It only makes sense for them to build out in densely populated areas. Can't make enough ROI for more sparsely populated areas.

HostingUK drops offline after losing Farmer vs Fibre competition

Because in some parts of the UK, it's the only practical thing to do. Fibre layers should be taking precautions of course, but sometimes there's no other option.

There's an old, crap, networking joke, along the lines of 'Always keep some fibre on you. That way if you're ever lost or stranded, at some point a digger will come along to break it.'

Would it make sense for an independent mast provider to provide coverage in those 'hard to reach' areas and then charge the other networks for access?

Re: A relatively quiet hub ..

I was going to say. Gatwick and Stansted are a similar distance from central London to Southend (according to Google Maps), and no-one seems to have an issue calling them 'London' airports.
