A basement of broken kit, zero budget – now get the team running

Re: When you're set up to fail...

oh my, obvious a number have never worked a typical gummint contract... ESPECIALLY if 'cost-plus', that is the holy grail of billable time ! ! ! the powers that be WANT you to 'waste' as much time as possible parked on these cash cows, logging all of your time as billable to the gummint teat...

gee, wonder why gummint projects always cost so much... herp derp

Re: Not one to take the G-Men's side very often, but within tight limits...

damn right, these koppers are so-o-o-o handcuffed in what they can do, and always face enormous repercussions when they do the silliest, minor transgressions of -you know- rights, and laws and archaic stuff like that...

.

in fact, why there isn't an immediate 10 mile radius cordon put around all crime scenes where everyone is preemptively tasered and interrogated is beyond me... just being -you know- safe...

.

how naive can you be ? AS IF the donut eaters and spooks ACTUALLY FOLLOW the laws and restrictions they are supposed to follow already ? ? ? geez, i hate outing authoritarians, but someone has to do it...

.

you can always tell bubble people who color within the lines and wonder what is wrong with wanting the trains running on time...

.

(*sigh*, here's the answer, bubblehead: there is nothing wrong with wanting the trains to run on time, it is the despot who enacts all the horror to make it so that is the problem...)

so, 'trust, yet verify' doesn't work either ? ? ?

certainly this was the one and onliest major bug that s/w systems have; absolutely i trust nerdbotz motivated by dollar signs in their eyes to look after my best interests; surely no one lets major vulnerabilities languish for decades due to disinterest, forgetfulness, and laziness; without a doubt i have no qualms of my whole pitiful life being laid bare to these greedtards who don't give a shit...

.

exactly why i am hereby predicting the imminent rise of neo-luddites... and i will be in line... getting to the poi9nt that virtually NONE of this computer crap is ACTUALLY serving US and adapting to US; but WE must adapt to what 'the computer' wants... tail wagging dog much ? ? ?

Black screen of death after Win10 update? Microsoft blames HP

when does the 'joke' : windows IS the malware...

...become too true ? ? ?

went fishing in task mgr the other day under both win 7 and win 10 to check on what crappy 'processes' and other crud was clogging up MY machine, unbidden, unbeknownst (in a larger sense), and unwanted...

but it is nearly impossible (without resorting to semi-advanced nerd jiggery-pokery) to eliminate MS crapware i do not want/need... does that not meet the very definition of 'malware' ? ? ? software i don't want/need FORCED on me ? ? ?

like, say, cortana...

grrrr

and ALL kinds of 'update' crap from every piece of crappy s/w which every touched your machine start/restart and install/reinstall no matter how many times you 'disable' it (ha ! a new definition of 'disable'), ESPECIALLY including all the crapware the manufacturer loads...

so, i don't have a botnet infection taking up resources, i don't have russkie hackers using me as a tor gateway to disseminate pro-tee-rump propaganda, i don't have eee-vil AI awakenings trying to kill me; BUT, what i DO have, is an endless stream of OFFICIAL and semi-mandatory 'reminders', 'updates', 'background', zombie tasks and processes going on which i have ZERO use for, but can not be killed dead...

AND, when/if i do have use for them, i can start them up myself, fuck you very much...

gee, hard to wonder why discriminating nerds/users despise Big Computer dictating 'their' hardware/software 'choices'...

Re: regardless of how much was misinformation

well, thanks for that useful response...

oh, wait, there wasn't ANYTHING substantial in your post at all, just a handful of snark addressed to me personally....

(other than the very weird putdown of jury nullification by insisting it is only a tool of jim crow racists... *sigh* another non-thinking SJW who sees a nazi behind every post...)

here you go: art guerrilla at windstream dot net

you want to snark, let's take it private; you want to argue with facts and rational discourse ? well, i have seen no evidence of that so far...

have a nice day, SIR...

(see, my capslock was connoting sarcasm there, did you pick up on that ? ? ?)

art guerrilla

so many cowed cows, i can hear the lowing from here...

1. while i have the advantage of speaking from ignorance from the two examples cited, the one seems fairly obvious, BUT actually presents an argument for MORE '(anti)social media', OTHERWISE, his private, unlawful thoughts wouldn't have been found out, AND he may have gone on to convict an otherwise innocent person because of his fervor to hang a pedo, ANY pedo. or suspected pedo, or once knew a pedo, etc...

2. have NO DOUBT this has NOTHING to do with idiots on social media (is that redundant?) behaving badly, but is ALL ABOUT persecutors, er, prosecutors maintaining absolute authority in the court and control of all input/infomation...

3. the other case cited seems -to me- to be ANOTHER argument FOR using the internet, in that i am betting the juror found out more real info on fraud in their private googling (REGARDLESS of how much was misnformation), than WHATEVER was going to be presented by the persecutors... THAT is what they don't want: a well informed juror who stands up for their right to DECIDE cases NOT just 'on the law' (as one-sidedly presented by the court), ie so-called 'jury nullification', which is actually juries performing their lawful duty in trying to enforce JUSTICE, not just 'the law' (which has little to nothing to do with 'justice' or equity these days)...

all the rest of the sheeple bleating 'baaahhh, but its the lawwwwwww...' are cowards and tools...

Google sued for paying women less than men

art guerrilla

first things first...

salaries are based on bullshit, here is how i know:

i believe it was a study in jolly old where they researched who performed the most useful, critical jobs in society (and how much they were paid), and who performed the least useful, wouldn't-be-missed-if-they-fell-off-the-planet jobs...

turns out, banksters and CEOs are the LEAST useful people on the planet, BUT the highest paid; hospital janitors are the MOST useful people on the planet, but paid the least...

THAT is how i know that salaries are based on social expectations and Empire stroking their technokrats, NOT some sort of meritocracy...

as an aside, regarding men vs woman pay; excepting a -literal- percent or two of knuckledraggers, WHO disagrees that woman and men shouldn't get equal pay for equal work ? ? ?

WHO ? ? ?

effectively no one, please stop beating EVERYONE over the head with that crap...

(if you must, beat the useless CEOs over the head, but stop blaming the 99% for what the 1% do...)

Re: @corestore

@ old previously-owned proggy-

AND, for bonus points, i defy you to *try* to access any of 'your' data Big Telco has on YOUR account...

had a situation where i had to 'prove' i called a certain state office about an employment matter, and they -effectively- claimed i did not do so... went to 'my' (sic) Big Telco who I PAY MONEY TO FOR SERVICE, if they would kindly provide my phone call records for about a 3 month period...

first, took going up the hierarchy and yelling and stamping my foot to get ANY response, and that response was 'no'... um, say wha ? those are 'my' records, of 'my' calls, WHY can't i have a copy of said records ? ??

well, not sure, but they were damn well NOT going to give me the records until i both wrote them a snail mail letter threatening legal action, as well as contacted a state rep... not sure what changed their mind, but they did relent and provide said records...

(which 'proved' my case, and made the state acknowledge the validity of my claim...)

what i *thought* should have been a simple request and easily fulfilled response, became a protracted and maddening process of punching at smoke...

fook that poop: i send an email, you send a reply, and never the twain shall meet, keep them neat and discrete... sorted by most current, thank you very much, MY computer/program...

and i have had email get missed because the current 'blob' of email to/from someone was uppermost in the queue (and all that i thought was going on), but meanwhile, they had sent some other 'new' emails from another account that i didn't see because there was no 'current' blob near the top of the queue...

a non cow, i believe you are more right than wrong, *especially* in the over-valuation of celebutards: they are made into brands/products that we are led to believe are otherwise superior to you... they are not, they ARE you...

in fact, i can prove it by the following: are there or are there not a fookton of 'reality' shows which showcase the talents of zillions of 'nobodies' who can dance their ass off, sing their heart out, and otherwise perform JUST AS WELL -if not better- than all but the once-in-a-generation geniuses ? ? ?

the answer is, yes, there are a fookton of talented folks out there (we ALL have talent(s), whether it is in entertainment is another matter) who could step into the shoes of any/all the celebutards out there who are MARKETED as the coolest thing since sliced bread...

every single actor on the planet could be raptured out of here, and there would be more than enough talented people (arguably, we are ALL actors) to step up and fill in admirably...

no, this celebutard-worship is both a purposeful propaganda ploy by the puppetmasters, as well as a natural reaction in trying to have 'leaders' in a leader-less society...

2. there are ANY number of PRIVATE matters they may discuss in those emails/chats which have nothing to do with the doctor, OR MAY be related ('oh, that scar where they took out my belly fat is more prominent than i thought...' blah blah blah), personal stuff which may not seem like a big deal, but is fucking personal...
