"Chrome has only one use in my eyes, and that's for watching Netflix under Linux."
I'm using Firefox (with uBlock Origin) and the User Agent Overrider and this in the preferences:
Linux / Chrome 53: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/535.11 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/53.0.2785.34 Safari/537.36
Can you claim self defense if you are "reverse" hacking a hacking attempt on your system/network being that you don't know where it is coming from?
Say you have some counter measures setup that might kill the offending system(s)/network(s). What then?
But I guess this is all moot if you are using any Cisco gear. It's full of holes like Government (Swiss) Cheese...
"What amazes me is how the Americans are willingly ignoring the fact that she lied..."
It's not that we are ignoring it, there's not a whole lot that we can do that isn't already being done to her through our broken system. Short of dragging her ass out in the street and give her a short drop with a sudden stop...
"The fact is that the Linux advocates missed a security flaw for the best part of a decade while sitting there and criticising (sic) Microsoft, Apple and other big businesses for their security."
Not to mention that most administrators have missed the the security flaw that Windows is for that last 2+ decades...
" the resent study"
That typo has crept in several times recently.
The spelling for something that has happened in the not too distant past is "recent",
"re-sent" is "to have dispatched something again"
"resent" is the feeling of objecting to something said or done.
Maybe we should "resent" that study...
Being that it is a "work" phone, can't the IT department use their MDM tools to issue an unlock?
I'm sure that they've already asked that, but I hope that they haven't just gone straight to Apple. Otherwise, this whole thing stinks of a false flag op.
The company I work for has the ability to reset the PIN using our current MDM solution so that all you have to do is swipe and set a new one.
Maybe it's only affecting those who 'upgraded' their modems to those new monster modem+wifi+voip boxes.
When I upgraded from DOCSIS 2.0 to 3.0 they sent me one of those. It did not like my Cisco router at all. I had them configure it so that it didn't do anything but act as a cable modem, but everytime the power went out I was on the phone with them getting them to set it back to bridged mode.
I finally got sick of it and made them give me an actual cable modem and haven't had that trouble since.
Fuck them if they think I am going to be their hotspot.
Is there any recourse for ads eating into your allotted bandwidth? It would be like cable and satellite TV charging you for watching to much telly because of all the adverts.
Why doesn't the likes of Comcrap go after the advertisers for making sure their ads get through instead of banging on Netflix and whatnot?
(Yes, I know... I'm tardy to the party...)
Many years ago I worked at a certain US auto parts store (let's just say it was a zone of auto's) in the store computer support area. I won't even begin to describe the equipment...
Our office was not at the corp HQ, but at one of the parts distribution warehouses as we needed a loading dock for some of the stuff we did.
One day, we all loaded up into one of the vans that the field support guys used and headed to to corp offices on the other side of town for a meeting. When we get to the meeting room all they are talking about is the planning of the next couple of meetings. Our boss asks them what we are going to be doing at this meeting and they say that it is just a meeting for planning the other meetings (yes it really does happen). He is none to pleased and tells them that we have work to do and we all get up and leave.
I find Libre Office damn quick on my Ubuntu laptop, but dog ass slow on a Windows desktop that is inherently faster than the laptop.
It wouldn't surprise me in the least to find out Microsoft is sapping clock cycles from the CPU when Windows tries to run LO.
Mines the one with the aluminium hat in the pocket...
