Kentucky commandeers world's most popular gambling sites

Uh

I think the RIAA and MPAA have missed a trick here. Why haven't they done the same with websites that breach copyright law in every US state? isoHunt.com? eak, it's a dot com! demonoid.com? Runawwaayyyy!!

There are SO MANY websites that contrevene some law or other in the US that have .com domains it's untrue. But those websites don't make enough money worth extorting, which is what is going to happen to these websites. "Ohh, ok. Have your domain back, but give us 5% of earnings" and if they refuse, they won't get their domain back. And they will do it, too, because 5% less profit is better than no profit at all :)

I think we need to wrestle .com control from the 'merkins until they prove they're mature enough to play fair.

BBC iPlayer upgrade prompts new ISP complaints

Lol @ ISPs

I didn't read all the comments above, but here is a little something on how I think ISPs work

ISP: Want an 8meg line? We'll give you all the bandwidth you want, unlimited!

Customer: Wooo, cool! Boy oh boy, this is cheap

ISP: Lol, dunce, we won't really give you 8 meg, and theres a fair use policy, and we're going to limit your P2P traffic! Ahahaha, owned XD

And now, this is what's happening.

Customer: I like the iPlayer :D

ISP: OMG WTF?! You're actually USING the bandwith you're PAYING for?! How DARE YOU! I want to EAT cake, but still HAVE cake. Well f*ck you, customer, I'm going to remove adverts from small internet sites who depend on advertising to survive, and stick my own adds in there! Mwahaha! See how you like using the internet now it's all run by businesses, and there's no indie sites or new content!

And then everyone will moan at ISPs for killing the little guys, and big businesses will sue the ISPs for replacing their adds, then the little ISPs will fade away anyways.

Ok, so I'm childish, maybe a little closed minded and ignorant, but you get the point. ISPs seem to be getting annoyed at their customers using what they pay for, and it's pathetic.

Who cares, give me my high def iPlayer!

Lol @ Nuking it

Not only will nuking it have the shotgun effect as mentioned above, but all the buck from the shotgun will surely be radioactive!

How will cling film even act in such harsh sub zero conditions? And if light is so effective at pushing things away, how do they know the sun isn't constantly changing the orbit of this chunk of rock in the first place?

I think we should invent big-ass lasers that will push it out of harms way. For a start, it's far far cooler than using cling film, don't you think? Secondly it may also heat up the rock, causing pockets of gas to explode and shift it further out of orbit, as well as having the same photon push effect as the cling film.

Ahh, armchair physics :) We're all doomed

No, really, it's HOI-- Ohh, wait...

I was going to comment on the Hoist thing, but OG, John Latham, GettinSadda, Ron Eve, Russ Williams, Eddie Edwards, Rob, Smudger, James Pickett, Jim Lewis, Graham Dawson, Warren and a bunch of Anon Cowards beat me too it. Good job I read the comments, otherwise I'd have looked silly!

I don't really see what the big deal is here. It just saves someone going out and taking the pictures themselves...

'Wild West' internet needs a sheriff

Mike Smith

Eh?

I have a lock on my front door, and I keep the key safe.

I have a Firewall/AV on my computer, and my passwords are safe.

It's simple.

I don't see police men at the enterance to my town vetting everyone that comes through for malicious intent. The security of my house is my own responsibility. As is the security of my computer. If my house gets robbed or burned down, I have insurance... Maybe I should insure my computer against vandals too..

Computer insurance... I think I'm onto something here!

To be fair, I think there should be minimum requirements for using the net, just like driving a car. Keep stupid people off the net and all will be fine. Police that.

Sorry, sorry...

Not to be disrespectful, but I think it was Mrs Peacock, in the dining room with the candle stick. She just shipped him to China for convenience
