'Software delivered to Boeing' now blamed for 737 Max warning fiasco

DXMage

But one sensor instead of two or three?

Having one sensor instead of two or three on this plane is just cheaping out and killed people. Even with the software glitch, having three sensors for redundancy would have solved this though the software bug wouldn't have been identified till all three sensors failed. Boeing cheaped out and should pay a VERY hefty price up to and including criminal negligence and toss whomever was responsible to declaring one sensor as enough in prison and if it was a committee all members of the committee in prison.

FISA

FISA would basically force any company with assets in the USA to claim it wasn't true or risk criminal charges against the executives, forfeiture of all assets and massive punitive fines in a worse case scenario.

The Lego it too damn high!

The cost of Legos is just too damn high. There is no reason they should cost as much as they do.

It never stopped

You can bet everything you have that it hasn't ever stopped. Law or not, the NSA and the CIA have proven they are above the law and don't need to follow it as there are no repercussions to them EVER. They can and do get away with murder on a regular basis. So yeah nothing can be done about it and nothing will be done about it.

NSA specific bug?

I have to wonder if this wasn't something that the NSA insisted get put in under the whole umbrella of "National Security".

I've been hearing of the death of PCs for 20+ years.

Oh the laptop is going to kill the PC then the "Thin Client) (aka the renamed dumb terminal) and that the PC was going to kill the Mainframe and so on. The Mainframe just went on to become "The Cloud" or "The Cluster", The PC is still around and will be for a very long time. Hell tablets and phones could just as well be dumb terminals and the Thin Client is still kicking around. About the only thing truly dead are punch cards I think at least I haven't seen or heard of any still in use anywhere.

It is real easy to solve the staffing problem

Just open the damn wallet. If they can spend billions on equipment that isn't used but find that they can't use it for whatever reason maybe if they would pay people what they are really worth then they wouldn't have a staffing problem. You offer 200K+ a year for good programmers and there would be a stampede. They could then have very high standards and actually accomplish something. Going the route of capturing, torturing criminal CompSci peeps is only going to get you so far. Indocturning the little kiddies from the age of seven is only going to get you so far.... Maybe if you were to farm the children in some third world nation and control their every waking moment from birth on to follow their masters every word and command to learn coding and lay down their lives for the CIA/NSA in the name of the USA, then maybe they could do that cheaper. But if they want results now it is best to just pay people what they are worth. OR I could do a big study and charge them a paltry 100 million for the study and tell them the same thing.

Re: Does anyone actually believe they have stopped collecting metadata?

Why yes, our ever law abiding NSA protector lords would never dream to violate civil rights, the law or the constitution. They don't want to control the masses of the world they only want peace and happiness. Sure they may have had a few million violations in total but it was an "honest" mistake. They really work to violate civil rights, the law and the constitution all at the same time. It is a difficult task but know that they are up to the task of hiding the facts from congress because all it takes is a few well placed cameras, a sexy agent with great "people" skills and most congressmen will keep their mouth shut and not do anything to really hinder the NSA.

Test Software Glitch?

Just the NSA testing some new software and there was a minor glitch. Instead of hitting just the target 737 in the AA fleet it hit all of them. The bug has been fixed. Remember the NSA is your friend and is doing this for your safety and not for anything nefarious, remember they are the "good" guys and not some spooky evil government agency bent on world domination.

Comcast doesn't want any competition

Comcast has openly stated on more than a few occasions where they actively work to eliminate competition so that they can raise prices and has stated clearly that with the purchase of Time-Warner that they will raise the prices where they are the established ISP to Comcast levels. They have been aggressively working to make a monopoly. SO yes if no one will come in to provide any kind of competition to make the pricing more competitive for the consumer benefit then why not? It is very clear that in locations where there is competition prices for bandwidth is sometime 25% of those locations where there is no competition. Where I live to get 30mb I have to pay $75 and I'm in town right by the fiber line. However just 50 miles to the south of me where there is competition you can get 60mb for $47 bucks a month. That's just bullshit.

Who's come to fix your broadband? It may be a Fed in disguise. Without a search warrant

Hail the surveillance state

Bow down to the evil overlords. The only thing left is to either die free or die in chains. But being "civilized" means that we the people will do nothing about it. It doesn't matter who is elected to office they are all corrupt to the core. The FBI, NSA, CIA, DHS, FIS, KGB, FAPSI, BSI, GCHQ, GCSB, Unit 8200 and 3PLA are all evil to the core. With the possible exception of a VERY few individuals should be considered rotten and evil to a man. Those in charge of these organizations and more are charged with working to surveil the world's population. They firmly believe that any means necessary to accomplish this is fine and that their mission trumps any personal rights or freedoms.
