I don't think that actually means anything.

Re: One Two Many

"The rule is: You use "deuxième" when referring to the second of <many>. You use "second(e)" when referring to the second of two."

Not quite a 'rule', according to the Académie française. One can, par souci de précision et d’élégance, reserve second for utterances where one only considers two elements, and only use deuxième when the enumeration goes past two. Cette distinction n’est pas obligatoire. You would always use second in certain expressions: seconde main, seconde nature, etc., and in job titles such as le second du navire.

Re: OK Jeremy--renationalization--what then?

Spelling lessons:

1. Nationalise

2. Labour (it's a proper name)

I don't give a flying f**k whether Jeremy made it up about the availability of train seating. I wouldn't care much if I heard stories that he eats kittens alive. I am a Labour Party member and I am going to vote for him, because I believe he is the best person to lead the party.

When I was a teenager a friend's dad (a doctor) told us how, in his student days, a Nigerian sailor had come to St Thomas' Hospital with his todger trapped in a short length of gas pipe. He'd left it too long and the part poking out of the pipe was gangrenous. Only amputation would save his life. When he came round and was told what had happened, he was "very angry" apparently. It's still there, pipe and all, in a jar in a collection, apparently.

Ah delta gun tubes. Around 1986 I wrote a simple program to use my Sinclair QL as a crosshatch generator, kept on a microdrive (tape) cartridge, handy for when no testcard was being broadcast. The display didn't go to the edge of the screen but most punters were pleased with the results.

Re: Works fine on my old Lenovo 64 bit Win 7 Laptop

I can echo your comments. I have a 1 month old Zoostorm "Business PC", i7 4790, 16 GB RAM, Win 8.1 downgraded to Win 7. I was not terribly keen to install a preview on my new baby, so I dug out a Dell Latitude D830, Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM 80 GB HDD that was bought refurb off Morgan a couple of year ago.with XP SP3. I installed Build 10162 64 bit. It works fine. Updated to 10240 last week. All the hardware detected and functioning, including the Intel 4965 wifi. I can RDP into it and try out the Win 10 experience on my desktop, seems quite snappy, and possibly by July 29 I might be ready to upgrade the Beast. As you noted, it has transformed the laptop, so much so that my wife now prefers it. I plan to stuff an SSD into it next.
