If anything the s/ware biz probably has a BETTER case for protection than the music bunch. At least the s/ware industry can be shown to be trying to keep up with the pace of innovation or even DRIVING it to various extents. Far better than a jaded and beleagured music biz that feels too 'entitled' to have to move with the times while it cries into its beer about the repercussions of not doing so.

I'm assuming the £4.50 is mostly referring to premium rate text services which generally charge as 10p, 25p, 50p, £1 and £1.50 per message received (MT messaging), different to the similar rates charged as MO which bill you to text INTO the shortcode, not to receive messages from it.
Having worked in premium rate in the past I can attest to the amount of shady dealings and creative 'terms of service' used to wring every last penny out of the hapless consumer. This revision is a good thing. I'm pretty sure it was one of my platform's clients that was directly responsible for ICSTIS (as Phonepayplus were then) banning the practise of 'minimum subscription' from terms or service and rightly so too... the piss was truly being taken.
We were only talking the other day in the office about paint jobs for cars and I said I wanted an OLED 'paint' job as it'd be fab for allsorts of mischief including of course messages like 'Why don't you come in for tea?' to tailgaters and printing excerpts from the Highway code to assorted other drivers (#267 - overtaking safely springs to mind).
I particularly liked the idea of displaying the view of a rear-facing camera on the back of the car to the driver behind you too ;o)

As I understand it they send refreshed databases to marketing co's containing donotcall data (or donotmail). I always use both and get next to no crap by phone or mail, when I moved house and registered my new phone/address all crap had ceased within a quarter :o) It''s free free to register.

My 120GB Elite is useless (RROD) now since the update. It's worked flawlessly until now in exactly the same physical position in the living room since I bought it last year. Happily it's still in warranty.
Unhappily I'm going to have to enter the gaping maw of XBOX support unless I can get the shop I bought it from to exchange it... unlikely.

Seriously, how much pollution does it create when some HGV driver who's determined not take his wagon off cruise pulls out into the middle lane causing a dozen or more cars to slow down and pull out into the fast lane slowing that lane down too... and then all those cars then accelerate back to the speed they WERE at before Eddie Stobart's mindless human autopilot slowed them all down in the first place.
More than the extra half hour the wagon has to drive by doing 1mph less over a 500 mile trip I'd imagine.

There's no way for me to prevent my data traversing swedish networks as once my router's handed the packets off they're at the mercy of everyone else's routing?
Not that it probably matters much.. don't the yanks already sniff everything on their networks anyway? I'm sure far more of my data routes through them than sweden... google, facebook, for a start.
