Let's talk about April Fools' Day jokes. Are they ever really harmless?

Re: Its Friday, take the easy option

We saw the Failed to Nobulate error when I was doing phone support (we all pay our dues) for a popular OEM back when Win7 was new. It was showing up on fresh images both on the recovery disk and on factory imaged hard drives. It took R&D about 3 weeks to determine that it was a corrupted file in the boot loader of the original image that they make all the copies from.

If Google is really pulling the plug, then we in Utah didn't get the memo until too late. Salt Lake City just went live, then announced that there are no plans to expand beyond the Metro core. Suburbs want fiber too? Sorry!

Re: Surfaces?

It depends what you're comparing it to. How often have you seen things like a Dell XPS 13, Asus Zenbook UX, Yoga Pro or Thinkpad X1 Carbon?

As a field tech for Dell & IBM, I see plenty of XPS 13s and a few X1s.

So the gov't can't force the developers to include a backdoor for their own personal use.

Now, if only the developers could prevent themselves from "accidentally" (read: for the developers own use) including a backdoor for the gov't to sneak into, we wouldn't need legislation like this in the first place.

There's no chance in any of the Nine Hells that I will ever install anything for free. Trade perhaps, but never without getting something in return.

Re: cannot get rid of it

I have it too, and outside of turning it off in the Task Manager (in which it comes back a while later on it's own), it won't stay away. And you apparently can't uninstall it either.

I use Google Drive, and have no use for SkyOneDriveWhatever.

Re: Has it's uses but it really is work of Satan!

I fully agree, which is why I also limit my FB friends list to RL friends and family. 5-10 min a day, and that's all it takes to catch up. The rest of the site can go right into the bin.
