Indeed. Managing third parties is not the strong suit of IT teams I've met during my 30-plus years in IT. The core rules are simple, though: Ensure you're in control, do not outsource your brains. Ensure you know where your data is. Ensure you're secure. Ensure you understand your contract, in gory detail. Ensure that your third party needs you a lot more than you do. If you cannot lock down the latter, do not go there.

The notoriously hard to work with Oracle partnering with Accenture, equally notorious for their commercial acumen promising heaven, joining forces to accellerate migration to benefit the customers? Be very cautious with either one, never mind when they come together at you. Both have the balls and the pockets deep enough to hang pretty much any customer out to dry.

What is the big surprise?

If governments in Europe wanted to curb tax evasion they would. They just don't and use the Irelands, Netherlands, Luxembourgs, Switzerlands, etc., in or near the EC, which allow for convenient excuses. If only the others did the right thing...
