Pebble: The brilliant stealth wearable Apple's Watch doesn't see coming

GaryBarber

Re: Battery Life

Since I don't have to get my phone out and turn the screen on anywhere near as often as I used to this more than balances the small battery hit caused by Bluetooth.

Turning the screen on sucks way more juice than bluetooth. My battery lasts longer with a Pebble than without.

Perhaps if you only get notifications and look at them a couple of times a day then the bluetooth drain will be more than the screen drain.

Nintendo says sorry, but there will be NO gay marriage in Tomodachi Life ... EVER

GaryBarber

Why all the fuss? Nintendo will change it in the next version. So just wait a while and you're can create any kind of in-game relationship you like.

Crikey, proper same-sex marriage (not civil partnership) only became legal in the UK in March!

Re: "Just don’t let them spot you buying a Vodafone SIM card."

Depends.....If you're switching from Contract to PAYG or vice versa you can't keep your number unless you do some fannying around as suggested.

I dunno. Kim looked pretty good to me in THAT picture.

Snapchat: In 'theory' you could hack... Oh CRAP is that 4.6 MILLION users' details?

GaryBarber

Really? Given the amount of people that don't like giving their details online, you're surprised that the fake email address "fuckyou@somewhere.com" exists on a list of millions of addresses in the Adobe leak?

Didn't take the monkeys very long to bash that out on their infinite typewriters.

Coroner suggests cars should block mobile phones

Re: Did I miss something?

Still doesn't matter. If the driver was at a safe distance and paying attention he'd have spotted the rapidly diminishing distance to the car in front and would have been able to take action.

I'm afraid it really is 'end of'.

GaryBarber

Yes, people do pull into the safe distance gap I leave in front of me. So you know what? I let the size of the gap increase again to a safe distance.

What do you suggest? Drive so close to the car in front that no-one can pull into the lane in front of me?

I'm much happier letting cars pull in front of me than I'd be losing my legs because I couldn't stop in time and suddenly I had an engine in my lap.

GaryBarber

I've just crashed.....

...into a tree. I'm bleeding, I'm alone and I'm trapped in the car. I can't move. I'd better call an ambulance.

Oh crap. My car is a Faraday cage and my phone doesn't work.

I'm dead.

I've always thought that if you've reached the point where just over 65000 rows in a spreadsheet isn't sufficient for what you want to do, then perhaps a spreadsheet isn't really the best way to be doing it.

Good luck to Microsoft and Nokia.

Grand Theft Auto V: Violent, sweary and amazingly ambitious

Re: Let me get this straight...

Really? Once I've finished a single player game I'm pretty much done. There's too many new quality games coming out for me to even have time to consider playing through something as big as GTA V AGAIN!

Bring on the new stuff.

Re: Am I unusual?

Yep. I rescue my daughter from a yacht where she's being groomed by porn directors, and then get into a shootout on JetSki's on a daily basis. Just part of my 9-5 ordinary day.

GaryBarber

I've lost count of the number of web sites that list the 3rd playable character as Lester. I'm starting to think none of them have played the game.
