Dixons and Carphone Warehouse confirm £3.7bn merger

Paul Hunter

Last time I tried to buy a SIM-free phone in CW, the sales guy refused to sell me one, because he said he doesn't get any commission on a phone sold without a contract, and as they didn't have many in stock, he'd rather keep them for customers who were going to make him some money. I asked to speak to the manager and he agreed with the sales guy. I haven't been back.

Dear Apple: Want to stay in business? Make an iPhone people can afford

Paul Hunter

It's like any luxury brand. People want it *because* it's the most expensive. If they sold the iPhone 5S for £100, nobody would be interested.

The 5C isn't that much worse than the 5S, and considerably cheaper (relatively speaking), so logically, it should have sold like hot cakes. Nobody wants it, though.

The iPhone's most important feature has always been "look at me, I can afford to spunk £700 on a new phone".

PEAK Apple: Cupertino's hopes died with Steve Jobs, says Larry Ellison

It's all gone a bit Princess Di

"He was brilliant, he was our Edison, he was our Picasso. He was an incredible inventor."

Is he taking the p1ss?

Not trolling (OK, maybe a *tiny* bit) but did Jobs himself actually invent anything? (Having a patent isn't the same as having invented something, obv.)
