Almost 1 in 3 Brits think they lack computer skills to do their jobs well

"Not to worry, the NHS will see to that"

The *underfunded* NHS will carry on doing its best for all of us as long as it's permitted.

Either my name, my password or my soul is invalid – but which?

Plus sign in email addresses is often fun

When registering with some sites I add '+${siteName}' between my username and @. This makes for easier classification using Gmail labels. Many sites reject the plus sign, although it's a valid character in email addresses. Morrisons supermarket took it one step further, by letting me register username+morrison@gmail.com, but then refusing to let me log in with it. I gave up on them.

I read this as "Tories R Us", and thought it would suit some of them down to the ground.

Roll your own

What should password managers not do? Leak your passwords? What a great idea, LastPass

Mag publisher Future stored your FileSilo passwords in plaintext. Then hackers hit

Those pesky lawyers

I just looked up their privacy and security policy: "7. Security: In accordance with our requirements under the Data Protection Act 1998, we *will* adopt appropriate security procedures to help prevent unauthorised access to your information. Neither Future nor any of its group companies shall be liable for any attempt to hack or crack or otherwise gain access to any part of this website including any of your information. "

(Emphasis on the future tense is mine.) So I suppose they're acting exactly as they say they will. At some unspecified time in the future, they'll look after your data. Till then, FU! I too am grateful for password managers that allow unique, hard-to-crack passwords - not that I'll be using these particular clowns again.

She's a Tory peer.

You do the cause of antisemitism no favours by conflating legitimate criticism of the Israeli government with antisemitism.

So long, it's been (kinda) good to know ya

I'm glad I worked at IBM; I met some great people, and learnt stuff.

I'm delighted to have left earlier this month. I couldn't wait to get away, and passed up the opportunity of being considered for their latest, and meanest, redundancy scheme. Wasting another summer there just wasn't worth it.

It's like a weight has been lifted off my chest.

It's official: 'tweet' an English word – not just in the avian sense

Re: It's official!!!!

AC: Countdown uses the "Oxford Dictionary of English", not the OED. The ODE reflects popular usage, and "tweet" in the social media sense made it in some time ago.

(Nowt to do with Oxford Press, but I do love Countdown.)
