The fact that no-one was injured was purely fortuitous. The station was totally out of control for hours prior to crashing and could have landed in the middle of Sydney, in the middle of the Indian Ocean, or anywhere in between! It was all a matter of cross your fingers and hope that it went into a sparsely populated area or the open ocean. Statitistically that was more probable than hitting a populated area, so only to that extent was the final trajectory "selected" as the least worst option.

Apollo at 50? How about 40 years since Skylab smacked into Australia
'Daddy, can I use the BLACK iPAD?': Life with the Surface Pro 2
I haven't had an opportunity to try it, but judging by the amount of time I use Splashtop on my iPad so that I can use my Windows apps on my PC, I think this has real potential as my mobile PC. The forced Hotmail account integration is a pain on my Windows Phone 8 Lumia phone and would be no less of a pain on a Surface.
With a well thought out docking setup with 22 inch screen and full size keyboard at my home/office, this could work as a grab and run without having to sync my iPad. In the meantime, CompanionLink is my saviour!
Microsoft finally ships Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7
So much noise on WinMob, but Microsoft's silent on lovely WinPhone
Bring back Windows Mobile Device Centre!
WinMob had Windows Mobile Device Center which gave perfect sync with Outlook email, calendar, notes and tasks OVER USB CABLE. WinPho can do none of that! Outlook Hotmail connector gives a kind of a workaround for some of it (not Notes) but it creates a messy set of duplicate calendar and diary entries that are impossible to clean up and don't sync with accepted invitations.
WinPho developers should be sacked for treating loyal user base so shabbily!
