If the Solar System's 'Planet Nine' is actually a small black hole, here's how we could detect it... wait, what?

Mark 85

I know there's a way to report this, but I can't remember what this is

Civil-rights probe: Facebook has completely failed to… Zuck: Look over here! We’ve banned four groups! Go me!

Well, both he and Trump are psychopaths. I guess they have to stick together.

Way back when they met, it would have been interesting* to have been a fly on wall.

*or maybe nauseating which would be more likely.

Re: No.

He surrounds himself with yes men, and watches his cheerleaders on Fox News for hours every morning

He's lately been beating up Fox for questioning his decisions and pushing for people to go to another news service that loves him.

As long as everyone praises him, he's happy. The minute they question, he'll scream, through a tantrum, and bad mouth them.

Mark 85

Re: PSA

Considering that he's in trouble with his base slowly melting away, this is just another attempt to pander to to them. He hates anyone not white and it's showing more and more everyday* He plays the religion card very well even though he hasn't been in a church in decades.

If the shrinks are right who have looked at things from a distance are right, he's an egomaniac, a paranoid, and in dementia. From where many of my friends are, we think he's just nuts.

I wonder what his next stupid stunt will be. But then again after the way he's treated other world leaders as well as citizens of the US, I'm not sure really want to know.

Again?

With all the issues of Win10 and MS's constant "fixing and changing" things, I have to wonder why customers put up with it? From everything I've read, heard, and seen, it's still not fit for purpose.

Any financial transaction won't be safe. Any private message won't be safe. I think the first folks to enjoy this should be the ones who vote for removing encryption.

Faxing hell: The cops say they would very much like us to stop calling them all the time

Mark 85

Re: I called the cops

Managed to call the cops by mistake when calling back to the UK from our US office. I dialled 9 to get an outside line then 11 for the UK. The US emergency number is 911.

You must have been doing it on an outside line. Otherwise it wouldn't have done that.

As Uncle Sam flies spy drones over protest-packed cities, Homeland Security asks the public if that's a good idea

Mark 85

Re: I am reminded...

There's more than drones now. There's armored vehicles, assorted medium to heavy arms, etc.

Mark 85

Re: Purpose of survey questions

You know what I don't see in that list? How about a question about people's opinions of drone use for purposes like policing? Not search and rescue? The reasons they've been used recently. How are you supposed to figure out what people think if you don't ask about the thing you're going to talk about? If you don't care what people think, why do you bother to ask them?

Why? It's a slanted and carefully crafted poll. "Do you want to be against finding lost children?" for example. So this boils down to pure public relations and eye wash for the masses so they can seem to say "we care".

Mark 85
Big Brother

Re: You asked my opinion about drones...

They will probably keep the drones and increase the number even if the results go to "stop". Their reasoning is along the line of many hard-core police and government types... "if have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear."

As for the public polling, and what's will be asked, I'm sure there's some in depth analysis going on of the respondents involving IP addy.

Re: Practically the only thing that has gone right in his Presidency

Trump's not so politically savvy to understand he's acting like a Fascist dictator (in the Mussolini mold)

Oh, I think you are very wrong in this. I think he knows very well what he's doing. Look that the world leaders he's praised and calls "very fine people" and look at the leaders he's shunned and insulted. Look at the way he argued that he should have an extra year because the impeachment took a year out of his Presidency or at least his focus on the Presidency.

If he pulls a win in this election out of his ass, it's very possible the next 4 years will be hell. I worry not only about our people but the Constitution as he continues seeking work-arounds of it.

If he wins.... my find all be having to chant "Hiel Trump". Be afraid, very afraid, this guy's mental state has been questioned by my folks brighter than most of us and it shows that he's all out for power.

Zuck and Trump

Zuck met with Trump about a year ago. This might be a result of that meeting. From the coverage of that meeting, it feels like Zuck is really on the Trump side of things. So with that in mind, is any of this latest surprising?

As Twitter blocks white supremacists posing as anti-fascists, FBI appeal is flooded with images of cop violence

Mark 85

Overall, this is pretty sad and scary state of affairs and not the first time this has happened nor probably the last.

The guy at the top hasn't said much to calm people down it seems. Mostly the opposite with his silence except to scream about his enemies and the fire and fury he'll bring down which will do the opposite of opening dialog.

I note that Zuck doesn't seem to care what goes up on FB as long he makes profit. So read into that what you want in order of things going on.

As for the rest of us, i hope we stay safe and try to calm things as best we can. Yes, there's outrage at what's happened not only to George Flyod but others not only black but just about any race other than white. Those stirring the pot have their own agendas and many of those are not about peace but destruction.

SpaceX Crew Dragon docks at International Space Station

Mark 85

Re: this is only half the trip

From up, the only direction available is 'down'.

Well there's also "more up"... "left" and "right". None of those are good though for this flight. Down would be the preferred flight path to get home.

Made-up murder claims, threats to kill Twitter, rants about NSA spying – anything but mention 100,000 US virus deaths, right, Mr President?

Mark 85

Re: Strong men, thin skins

Did someone contradict the shite he spouts? So not fair!

It kind of hard to contradict that much crap because there's so much of it spewed. His average Tweet Storm takes about 2 day for the press to analyze and rebuke it. If he'd spend the time doing his job instead of watching Fox and spewing, things might actually be better.

I don't see things changing but only getting worse. Various shrinks and psychologists seem to think he's into dementia, paranoia, and mental degradation. Seems like that might be true having had a family member hit by those issues.

With his killing of treaties, and general belligerence I hope that who ever has the launch codes won't give them to him.

Twitter ticks off Trump with new 'Get the facts' alert on pair of fact-challenged tweets

Mark 85

Re: Free speech?

Yes, on is free to speak, but media is not obligated to spread it.

More importantly, Trump obviously never learned "It's better to remain silent and let people think you are a fool than to speak and prove you are a fool."

Mark 85

Re: Rootin' Tootin'

It would be perfectly fine with him if Twitter killed off all the opposition tweets. But his... are huge, brillant, best ever, ad infinitum ad nauseum. Ask him. He'll tell how perfect he is.

Re: Too many return() statements in the code?

Back in WWII, the US had problems with it's torpedoes. Some would explode immediately after launch, some would hit the target and not explode unless hitting at an angle. And several subs were lost when tor torpedo did a 180 and hit the sub.
