After Leveson: The UK gets an Orwellian Ministry of Truth for real

Longrod_von_Hugendong
WTF?

Free press is like communism...

a good idea in principle, but fails when people get involved who cannot keep their hands out of the cookie jar - like in all soups, scum rises to the top

and like communists, journalists need to be shot on sight.

Not got 4G? There's a reason we aren't called 'Four', sniffs Three

Longrod_von_Hugendong
FAIL

4G - what is the point...

4G is totally pointless, on my phone i look at twitter, facebook, email and some web. Mega fast broadband is not going to help me. The dumb limits on 4G prevent you from streaming anything / downloading anything.

So i reiterate - what is the point. I would rather the mobile companies spent the money getting us 3G everywhere, i dont just mean 98% of the population, i mean everywhere.

Also, try Three out in the wilds of scotland and Shetland - you will be glad you went with Vodafone or O2.

The Dancing Pony add is a case in point - I know where its filmed on Shetland and i can tell you there is bugger all Three signal there. I was thinking of complaining to the ASA about it. :D

Whoops! Tiny bug in NetBSD 6.0 code ruins SSH crypto keys

Happy

At least...

1) We are told about it

2) There is a patch.

Unlike another company(s) i could mention, that wouldnt tell you and release a patch 6 months from now once a load of machines are compromised.

Review: Renault Zoe electric car

Longrod_von_Hugendong
Thumb Up

Re: Fail

You are completely correct - i have done exactly the same, with a Jeep grand Cherokee I think i put around £15 of petrol in it a week on average. (I would like to quote clarkson - yes, you can buy a car that does 70mpg, and tell people about it - but you look a giant c**t driving it.)

To be honest, i was thinking what a great EV car, until this paragraph, 'On top of that you’ll need to find £70 a month for the cheapest 36-month battery lease' WTF might as well buy something bluemotion / small. That is just a joke, on top of the electricity you have to pay, made it awesome and cheap to something pointless.

So much easier to just burn the methanol... which my V8 will use (give or take)

- or, just thinking out loud here -

Four firms pitch hi-def DRM for Flash cards

Longrod_von_Hugendong
Facepalm

When will the studios realise...

1) There stuffs effective value is 0, you can get it for free, from a torrent site and play it anywhere. (Stuff is worth way people are willing to pay for it.)

2) DRM is pointless, it just annoys people like me who are willing to pay something for viewing/listening to top quality stuff, on anything i want in any format i want. If i cannot get it how i want it for the device i want it on, see point 1

3) CD's in the 1990's made the prices too high, see point 1

4) Dont do any DRM, save the money on paying for it, make all your stuff available for a few pounds, and see lots more money come in. Lets face it would you rather sell 1 at £20 or 10000 at £2.

People in entertainment land need to realise there methods of payment / distribution died 10 years ago. No matter what you do its not coming back.

Mobe networks bag UK 4G for a steal - £1bn shy of Osborne's £3.5bn

Longrod_von_Hugendong

Dont have 3G...

Where i live, maybe 1 day we will get it or 4G not holding my breath though.

To be honest, 3G is plenty fast enough, i have 1G data limit, so i cannot really stream films / iPlayer etc. so whats the point? I get emails / read news / read twitter / facebook - alll of which work very well on 3G.

Plus, the plan are crap for 4G, will have to come down to what i pay now before i am interested.

Does everything i need it too, and sometimes i swap files with work plebs and walking pound signs, sorry i mean customers and they are none the wiser that i dont use office, not been a problem as of yet.

If there is a problem, i will probably head in the direction of office365, but it would have to be a major problem. and i would use Safari just to annoy M$ :D
