I believe the NES even had some online functionality, at least in Japan. It wouldn't have been much like the services available today, but the famicom could be connected to a phone line to play multiplayer games.
There was some form of online service for the 64DD too, but as no one bought that, I'm not sure there are many details.
I know they don't want anyone to have a complete Tourettes moment in the comments section, but the moderation makes us all sound like a bunch of idiots. It looks like there are no comments on an article, so you chip in with your little "but the games won't work" line, only to find when you look back later that 15 people already said that, and it wasn't really worth you bothering... can't El Reg just report comments with swearing, or blatently offensive language for human moderation, instead of all of them?
How could they take out the Blu ray, surely all of the game discs made so far are made for that? It would be super *not* cost effective to make every dev go back, make the textures look shody and cram it onto a DVD to be rereleased. I know not all the games fill up 25GB, but I heard someone complaining it wasn't enough for all their content. Might have been Sony "you need blu ray" propaganda though.
My PC has just the one PCIe slot, and its the one at the top. These newer double slot cards look like they need the second to top slot being PCIe, with the one above needing nothing but the vents at the back... So, can I put one of these in or not? Yes, I am a complete noob at these kind of things, my current graphics card is about as complex as a stick of RAM. Put in slot, turn on, image is on screen. Yay!

Right on Gareth. I was quite shocked when I saw an ad the other day, but it was only a few seconds until that too was banished from my screen. Do people honestly just put up with ads? In a single session you can wipe out 95% of your ads with something like adblock, and I've always wondered what kind of impact this will have on the likes of Google. I'm surprised they haven't bought and discontinued adblocking products by now.
I know we always get the short straw, but its getting to be a bit of a joke. I couldn't really care much less about the PS3, but Sony really aren't giving it a chance over here. I know they're trying not to lose too much money on each sale, but why do they accept a much lower price elsewhere? Do they think we're just retarded and don't notice?
Also, is an 80 gig PS3 that much to be bothered about? Its not loads more storage, and from what I've seen its not too hard to put in whatever size one you want. It'd probably be about £700 anyway...
