Database man flown to Hong Kong to install forgotten patch spends week in pub

Never flew there for real, but worked with a lot of flight simulators (big boxy jobs on hydraulics) that included Kai Tak as an airport and I almost perfected landing on Rwy 13. Aim at the chequerboard painted on the hill and turn sharp right when you're over the middle marker. Kind of.

Indeed, it's really simple with Docker, there are off-the-shelf containers for Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana.

Re: Ah the 747-100

Ah Redifon, and the 'erection shop' - and tannoy messages for Richard Stiffener to go there. Yes - childish. But there's nothing like the fun of flying a full-flight simulator at 300 feet inverted over the old Kai Tak airport.

Conditional execution

You've got to love making all instructions able to be conditional, it gives such great mnemonics. SoftWare Interrupt only when the result of the previous instruction didn't set the zero ('Z') bit is the wonderful:

GNOME hacker: Culture isn't holding desktop Linux back

Trevor Marshall

Just to say ...

... that Linux works for me, on the desktop, server and laptop (and as Android on a phone and tablet). There are some things it's good for, and some that it's not so good for. But if it doesn't float your boat that's OK, you can use something else, I really don't mind. The operating system is just something that enables you to run your applications, right? So pick the one that best supports those applications and relax.

Which is to get lots of eyeballs looking at ElReg and its comment pages, and while they're at it seeing all those lovely ads that decorate the pages. The more contentious the article the more comments there are which means more eyeballs.
