A straight transformer won't shift frequency - you'd need a belt drive motor-generator unit or a rectifier/inverter to do that.

Perhaps use it as a staging post - maybe mine and process the shielding material on Luna, so it's a lot cheaper/easier to chuck it at Mars than if it was lifted from Terra.

Sometimes I get a reply, sometimes not - I imagine that some corrections are flagged by many readers, and the author can't really be expected to acknowledge all of them.

Have you tried a log periodic aerial? The one I tried (just a temporary set-up - we mostly use cable) worked wonders for our DVB-T reception. It was mounted too low, pointed at the wrong transmitter (according to everyone else's aerials) blocked by large trees and it worked brilliantly.

I prefer the TV not to dominate our living space - it sits fairly quietly in the corner showing mostly comedy, chat and factual programs, types which don't really benefit from an "immersive experience".

I think we're aware of the concept of a debit card - I've lived a largely cash-free life for years with mine (and the PayPal account it feeds) as I am sure have many Brits. Maybe it's a strange idea across the pond?

I suspect you're thinking of 1024 screen width, which was 768 pixels high. 25 years ago basic PCs came with a 14 inch 800 x 600 monitor.

I taped a Schottky diode to the battery, which produces a suitable voltage drop, at a cost of pennies each on eBay. But no old camera collection is complete without a few vintage light meters, and some of them still work well.

Why? Weren't you intending to wipe the hard drive and re-install to your own specification? Or do you think the firmware might be similarly compromised?
