Microsoft parades Windows 8.1, the version you may actually want

Re: Not really fixing any of the problems

One danger MS has now is they've split their customers into two groups, those who prefer a traditional desktop environment and those who prefer Metro. Now if they make Windows 9 more of a traditional environment they won't be able to please this new group of Metro lovers.

Well who knows, I guess they could just make the Metro interface a launch-able application similar to their much unused Media Center, but that wouldn't fit into their new "Make billions off an app market" strategy.

Google to skew search results to punish PIRATES

Re: Google to alter search results to hide PIRATES

Won't this just move companies from patent trolling into a new area of removal trolling? Talk about enabling... After all what better way to get more sales than your competitor by issuing multiple take down notices to reduce their search ranking for terms such as 'tablet'.

Here come Apple and Samsung...

Curiosity snapped mid-flight by Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter

"The rover's Radiation Assessment Detector (RAD) has been operating through the flight to let NASA monitor the potential hazards astronauts making the trip would have to face"

Yup, like the high toxic hydrazine crash site. I'm no scientist but I assume being in space it won't just dissipated over time? wouldn't that be sort of like saying "Mars colonisation probably won't happen in my life time, so lets leave that mess for future generations!"

Microsoft RTMs final Windows 8 and Server 2012 code

Re: Wow.

Nothing annoys me more then being told "You don't like our AWESOME product because you're just afraid of change!!" I think it was the Microsoft CTO who said something along those lines, lets see how that attitude works out for them.

I don't like Windows 8 based solely on my own opinion, if others love it that's great, but it does nothing for me and I don't appreciate being told there is a problem with me because of my standpoint.

Apple CEO: Frothing fanboi iPhone 5 hype screwed our sales

"But it was useless to rail against that rumour mill"

No it's not... you could have just made an announcement like "We've begun work on the iPhone 4S or the iPhone 5" and still keep the whole secrecy, leaving people guess about the look or specs.

Windows 8: Thrown into a multi-tasking mosh pit

Thumb Down

I love how Microsoft say those who don't like it are just afraid of change, fans of Ubuntu said the same thing just before the distro was knocked to 2nd place in favour of Mint (Yes I know it's a flavour of Ubuntu). I for one am not afraid of change, for example: If they do the same shit with Windows 9, I'll probably buy an Apple Mac and that's after using Windows as my main OS for over 10 years.

Workers can't escape Windows 8 Metro - Microsoft COO

Thumb Down

"because the "immersive" Metro user interface removes all their distractions."

Turn people into mindless robots by treating them like children!

Metro breakdown! Windows 8 UI is little gain for lots of pain

Re: WTF?

I think the best comment I heard was on a video, where an IT technician's desktop had been replaced by one running Windows 8.

"Don't they do a version for professionals? Come on guys, give me back a real PC"
