Goodbye Vulcan: Blighty's nuclear bomber retires for the last time

Re: A beautiful aircraft though - Possibly the loudest thing I've ever seen move.

Saw one at an airshow in the 80s, can't remember exactly where but Harlow was involved somehow. I'd have to agree that the aircraft as a whole was beautiful but my abiding memory is looking up at a lump of metal being pushed upwards by sheer brute force. I dont properly recall the aerodynamic grace or style just the noise and power as it seemed to go almost vertically upwards pushed by those engines.

Seven Great Moments in World Wide Web History

Steve Jobs invented ALL phones, shortly after he invented computers and sliced bread.

Reseller Computacenter LITERALLY smokes out squatters from offices

If a burglar was injured by faulty wiring they could probably try and sue for contributory negligence since the homeowner should have considered the likelihood that another person (burglar or not) might come into contact with the faulty wiring. I have absolutely no legal knowledge but it sounds par for the course where our system's concerned.

Jack Vance: Science fiction’s master of magic, mischief and sex

My first proper sci-fi book was The Pnume, bought for me by a wonderful grandad who didn't realise it was part of a series. Jack Vance remains a favourite of the genre for me. RIP.

Re: Boot Hill

Thanks! I was struggling to remember what it was called, remember playing it with my dad at Mannings in Felixstowe. It was the only one he'd play, other than Pong.

HTC struggling as profits drop 70 per cent

Re: Lost the plot

I've got a Desire HD (posting this from it) and would have to agree with most of the comments on this thread: HTC phones have been quite good in the past, HTC preloaded apps are very annoying (coupled with orange for double ridiculousness), last Sense update really spoilt it for me. Won't get another unless these things are resolved and since they won't be...... roll on the S3

Apple cofounder Steve Jobs is dead at 56

RIP Steve Jobs - I may not always have agreed with you but you were one of the driving forces behind our world as it is today.
