Intel starts mass production on Intel 4 node using EUV in Irish fab

Arthur Kater :-D ☺
Facepalm

"So, yes, TSMC may have used EUV on an earlier generation tech than Intel but [that] doesn't necessarily mean Intel is behind in its ability to deliver a given node."

Reality is Intel is far behind TSMC in it's ability to deliver 3nm products. TSMC has vastly more experience.

Mozilla drags Microsoft, Google, Apple for obliterating any form of browser choice

Arthur Kater :-D ☺

"Google, Apple, and Mozilla are the only major browser engine makers left" is incorrect.

"Google, Apple, and Mozilla are the only major browser engine makers left" is incorrect.

Chromium, which is the browser engine used by Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and several others is not "made" or owned by Google. It's an open source project started by Google and contributed on by Google and many others (including a large contribution by Microsoft).

Missing Engineering Cost

Missing in the report is development/engineering cost to get a solution running and maintained on either of the clouds.

AWS, Azure and GC differ hugely in how easy it is for engineers to use either cloud offering.

MAUI and WinUI3

MAUI and WinUI 3 are both in development.

WinUI 3 will be the successor to UWP and more-or-less WPF and fully enable the Win32 API.

MAUI will also support development for Windows.

Why not merge those 2 as well?

Duarte, the Android UI guy (laugh)

Sorry Mr. Duarte, I'm totally unimpressed with the work you have done in the past years.

Recently changed from Lumia 920 Windows Phone to LG G4 Android phone.

Although the LG hardware is great, the Android OS is absolutely miserable. I'm not talking about the underlying OS, but talking about the UI. It's a confusing UI. When you hear a notification sound, you have to dig to find out what app the notification came from.

Double-layer homescreen (one with all apps, one with selected app).

Windows 10 has been designed 'together' with the user. MS clearly listened and learned from what the user wants. Has implemented features not based on their cool factor, but on their usability factor.

EU move to standardise phone chargers is bad news for Apple

Arthur Kater :-D ☺

MicroUSB poor standard

Despite the good intentions to have a single charger suitable for all phones/tablets, the choice for MicroUSB as the standard connector is less favorable.

MicroUSB is often difficult to connect (upside down, must align well). For docking stations it's even worse. This all resulting in frustrations and easily broken connectors.

To: Stuart Longland

Maybe your math is a bit rusty.

200mm² = 2cm² which is a quite normal sized postage stamp. Besides, that's just single-layer. If implemented as a triple-layer, the total size/capacity ratio would decrease three-fold.

Who's going to make good apps if there's no way to protect your IP

Many of the successful apps (Skype, Angry Birds, etc.) have their code more or less unreadable (compiled to native, obfuscated etc.).

To me it seems using HTML+CSS+JSS is basically making an open source app.

Sorry, but your comment is totally rubbish.

The core of the Windows Phone 7 is based on Windows CE and is totally different from the standard Windows core. Windows CE is one of the most stable operating systems around and is often used in embedded and industrial systems where stability and continuity has to be of the highest level possible.

iOS and Android and Linux based and much more prone to virusses. Apple (over)protects their iPhone users by only allowing pre-scanned applications (thru the Appstore). Android doesn't have this rigorous pre-scanning mechanism with many infected phones as a result.
