Or else we hold our breath until we turn blue and then cough all over you?
Big threat on the "or else" bit in it?

I hope this article is not an indicator that UK Whitehall (civil servants UK united) has lost some of its IT credential numptyness - because it has not.
UK Whitehall is as numpty as it ever has been
For example: policy exists to state UK publicly funded power/department/authority cannot discuss individual cases in public yet they will persist to send personal judgements/stuff of a personal and confidential nature as open attachments to open emails
(I use 'open' not in its open software notion or open architecture notion but in the sense that to publish openly in an open environment such as unencrypted email/attachments into ipen email domain is a breach of existing policies (Yes Ombudsman Services and almost every English local authority in the land, I am thinking of you. UK numptyness in publicly funded services really is as high as ever it was if not peaking into rediculously sublime))
Dear El Reg: I wonder if there is any mileage in listing ups n downs of savage fortunes on a country by country basis?
Speculative intuition hints developing countries of the up n up with emerging middle class wage slaves and increasingly more peeps with disposable income might favour Apple side of things while nations experiencing economic economy nose dives might favout another flavour.
(Jus' thinkin' really)
It seems the Beeb has only the highest regard for and of itself no?
£11 per month will give us:
BBC 1, 2, 3, 4 and a part time Cbeeby or two
on tv
Sky £30 per month will give us all of the Beebs plus a heck of a lot more.
I think the Beeb is using power generator tactics to overprice its product and if the subscription model goes ahead pray tell how I can listen to BBC Radio York in, say, Cornwall?
For BBC tv I think a £1 per channel per month seems reasonable if not a bit on the high side
I think what all this observation and collation of data means is that the eavesdropping services have good sales people making a jolly good sales pitch to politicians who tend to know very little and become easily impressed with the consequences of decisions made especially when presented by equally brilliant level 2 sales people (contract managers?)?
If my house door is open and someone goes in and takes something then there is a chance that something was taken without my permission, even if it was a policeman/woman who took it.
If my mobile device is open and someone takes information without my consent is that not a similar improper event?
I think there may be two issues on the go here but (unfortunately?) practice or experience in the media seems to merge them in to one?
1 - Power to do something
and
2 - an apparent arrogance in the use of that power
One neat thing the US has above the UK is that it seems it is a legal matter requiring courts rather than a bunch of civil servants matter requiring a bunch of civil servants?
Perhaps we want the state to extend powers but equally want the state to be sure that those powers are not used arrogantly, for ill or for self-interest?
If so that would mean enshrining some protection and reparations for injured parties but at the back of my memory is plebgate (UK) and those discriminant beatings that seem to happen in US. Suggesting to moi that abusers if they get together will have a feast of abuse?
Please don't confuse British Army with MOD.
Where one is heroic, astute, brave, courageous and has tenacity existing over many years the other probably gets nose bleeds at the thought of a paper cut getting stuff from the printer (there) to the shelf (0ver there) without tripping up over the wire (there) and don't get me started on the delays on the tube dah-lingk no?
Warriors v wimps
body bags v claim forms
integrity unto de-ath v mincing escapist apologies
no?
Well done dude!
It don't matter if one is super rich (see pain mail above) or super poor.
You seemed to have grasped an important consequence of being alive and being mortal.
Is there any chance you (meaning Mr G this time) might be able to come over to dear old blighty and sort out some of the issues we have here?
Please be aware that some of our snobs are really quite influential and sort of important.
Background research: any Blackadder series you can get a hold of.
Each individual series is based on fact and the overall impression of all is quite a good reflection of life in UK.
If you (meaning Mr G) feel up to it please get here soonest (our poor need you more than their political representatives and "pubic" servants (sorry typo meant "public" bit can't really tell the diffrence now)) but fully understand if your diary shows fully booked for the next few years (I had a diary that did that in Windows too)
Ah, good - here are the Germans.
IoT (I prefer IoM as it is Internet of Means, Internet of Methods and dwells well with Isle of Man (brrm, brrm, brrm BMW and all that)
Now things are looking very positive with US influence and economy under a cloud (no not that cloud) the Germanic creativity on these things might just put Europe on the map again?
Am I right in thinking 286, 386, 486, 586, ... type computers were/are really office based bits of equipment hoisted n foisted upon an unwary public seeking a bit more than their Amiga (or alternative computer barring Archimedes/BBC Micro ?) might do?
Further enhanced by plug n play and associated insecurity issues?
Wait!
Maybe!
Could ARM and 'nix n Android do peripherals as well but this time from the home based oerspective ?
If not, why not?

Just in case googles business plan fails it has lots of data on individuals and maybe it can say something like:
Dear person
We are google.
We hold lots of data about you.
We are not making as much profit as once we did.
Therefore we will return to you all data we hold on you for a payment of X.
For a payment of X plus Y we will return your data to you AND destroy our copies of that data (subject to USA law and NSA subversions)
Dear RSA
Please deny all claims that this Agency paid RSA a sum of money.
The claim is that NSA paid RSA 10 million USD and we both know it was far more considerable than that.
This will give your denials a plausability that strengthens and empowers RSA anticipated denials.
We at NSA never ever underestimate the power of plausible deniability and look forward to plausible denial as a matter of urgency.
Yours sincerely
NSA
Will the Tom Tom import my addresses from my address book or will I need to type them all in?
I can't see the point of these devices (now) especially since tablets do so much for so little with a whole lot more on top.
Maybe a bespoke device that could withstand rain/wind for use by athletes, cyclers, motorbikers, scooters, ice mobiles, jet ski thingies and so forth?
with stage managed solution?
Maybe it is my personal weakness but this looks too much like a google buys ARM solution followed a year or two later by intel beats ARM in new business rollout for google.
Assuming the above is mistaken won has to wonder about MS & intel vs Apple & XXX vs ARM & google ...and ponder?
(Sell Apple/ MS / intel shares and buy ARM and google?)
The UK is not a meritocracy and i don't think it has ever claimed to be.
It is an aristocracy lead nation or at least it appears to be with its politicians claiming to represent commoners in the Houseof Commons but having very little to do with commoners anyway.
From time to time it does claim to be a democracy but the sincerity and actuality of such claims can be easily challenged. However a society that is based on privelege and supremacy is probably spending lots of resource and energy maintaining the power structures of that place hence ... a lot?
There has to be a motivating factor however silly, bland or spurious it may appear (fart apps anyone?)
A - So perhaps we can provisionally conclude vulgarity is an acceptable factor (porn on the web/computer? shoorli not?)
B - Another factor seems to be: stuff for free (hence growth of google strategy?)
C - And it has to be low cost.
A + B + C = Android?
The overlooked D: u hav jus been profiled dood 4 all of your online existence?
OKAY
Re: google Analytics ?
What worries me a bit is not so much the technology but the impact on human society, humanism and human interaction spurred on by some of the (usually destructive) psychologies of the watched by the watchers by commanding authorities.
What and where these new dynamics take humanity is adventurous and where will it go in 2 or 3 generations (hunan ones not technological ones)?
