Samsung's Galaxy stuck in history

unfunk
Alert

1.6

The Galaxy is actually stuck at 1.5 - Samsung won't even upgrade it to 1.6, which is a shame because 'Donut' is so much smoother than the earlier release.

Very glad I didn't get one now, thanks to the horrible delays in getting the thing launched here in Australia.

Gmail shoves 'on behalf of' feature to one side

about time!

I've had more than one job interviewer be very confused by the "on behalf of" thing, and potentially put off any interviews with me, because my GMail username is an unintelligible mess of letters that looks a little rude.

I understand that Google's been doing the right thing, and that it's Microsoft's implementation that's wrong, but the fact of the matter is that practically all corporations use Outlook.

This makes me love GMail even more than I already do, which is a fair amount.

Microsoft delays first Windows 7 public beta

unfunk
Alert

I got it!

...well, I got it off a torrent, but after enough searching around, I found that https://www.microsoft.com/betaexperience/productkeys/win7-64/enus/default.aspx gave me a valid download link and matching key (that I just used on my existing install). I think you have have signed in and gotten though the Technet registration process for it to work though... but it's worth a shot (change the 64 to a 32 if you're silly enough to want the 32bit one)

what's the opposite of hyperbole?

..because that's exactly what all this is. Trying to find fault in what's bound to become a huge player in the Browser market, and you can only find something in the EULA (that doesn't even apply to using the browser, just any screenshots you post of it). There are far bigger show-stoppers than any potentially nasty EULA clauses.

Anyway, here's some information that everybody that's slagging it off already, based on this (and the thousands of identical articles being posted today) should read:

...and some more counter-anti-hyperbole

That Matt Cutts fellow has some more privacy-related information to.. er.. foil... those tinfoil-hat wearers in the audience today:

50, eh?

weren't CDs supposed to last for up to a hundred years?

Regardless, this stuff is awesome. I want the XBox 720/PS4/Wii2 to have it. No complaining about lack of storage space then...

BitTorrent site Demonoid.com downed by Canadian record industry

the "Canadian" Recording Industry Association

...is Canadian in name only: It's basically another front for the RIAA.

From Wikipedia:

"The Canadian Recording Industry Association is a non-profit trade organization that was founded in 1964 to represent the interests of American companies that create, manufacture and market sound recordings in Canada"

...yeah, I don't really believe that "non-profit" bit either

1) How the hell do you pronounce 'phthalates'?

2) Is there video (or audio) of Arnie pronouncing it?

Blog calls for Google boycott

impossible...

That's just not possible for me - from the moment I turn my computer on in the morning, to when I go to bed at night, I'm inescapably linked to Google.

I use GMail to check all of my email accounts, and I have Google Talk running all the time. I use the incredibly lovely Google Desktop sidebar to display my RSS feeds, calendars, and latest emails.

While at work, I check my email using the extremely useful GMail java app for mobile phones, and occasionally, I use the Google Maps app too (I'm a bicycle courier).

To go 24 hours without Google?

/Maybe/ if I only don't use it for searching for anything...
