Tim Cook: Apple to manufacture Macs in US in 2013

biblical scripture on the reg ?

"(cf. John 18:38)."

Anyone else wondering why we are getting bible references and links in a reg article ?

Has El Reg taking the idea of technology evangelism literally?

Pure Contour 200i Air wireless music system

Dodgy time to buy a iOS dock device.

Nice kit and i could certainly use it with Airplay.

However with all the rumors of Apple changing their standards on the dock connector in the expected autumn iPhone release. I'll be holding out for the next release a 201i perhaps?.

GCSE, A-level science exams ARE dumbed down - watchdog

Irish observation

Observation here from a product of the irish education system. Finished secondary school in Ireland in '93

Sat 7 subjects at the Irish equivalent of A level (used UK A level papers in exam prep). Places for uni were really competitive with a points system that worked on picking your best 6 subject results and each grade roughly broken down into 5% increments awarding increased amounts of points. A was 85%, B was 70%+, C was 55%+ D was 40%, less than 40% was a fail.

uni entry was down to your results total against the demand for the course. Bloody stressfull and tough work !

I did notice some subjects introducing multiple choice around that time. But they had negative marking for incorrect answers at least a token effort against the guess culture that slowly followed.

Seeing comments here about almost 25% getting the top marks and A* going for 70% belittles the relative worth so much its tragically comical from an international perspective.

And don;t get be started on Oxbridge B.Sc. earners being awarding an automatic MSc 1 year after graduation....

First iOS patch over the air incoming soon i guess

If you have it locked on the 'home screen'. A left swipe to the search allows you to see contacts with their primary phone number. And the normal search able context.

Expect this will get patched soon enough, seems like a good test for their over the magical etherweb incremental icloud software updates.

Microsoft, Nokia, HTC fight Apple's 'App store' trademark

Beginning to see APP.les point on this one

An article on the beeb pointed me in the direction of app revenue figures for 2010 courtesey of the IHS screen digest organisation.

"IHS Screen Digest estimates that £1.1billion of revenue flowed through Apple's App store last year. Android Market managed just £62m. The figure was lower than both Blackberry App World (£100m) and Nokia's Ovi store (£64m). Research predicts massive improvements for Android by this time next year, but it is still expected to lag far behind iOS."

When your market share of app revenue is 4.8 times the sum of your competitors. You will be protective of your name.

Even if you look like a pedant doing so...
