Re: Pronounciation
It's Greek, so I guess it ends in 'eez'
You don't mispronounce 'Isosceles' after all.

America is thousands of miles away from most of the readership, and I'm sure the US will cope with reading the British "mum." What's with all these Americanisms?
So start using the last two digits of your web address and remember you're in the UK, Regikins!
Increased efficiency, increase speed, smaller etc, etc. it's just Apple using the latest chip technology. It's nothing to do with the age old 8-16-33 bit arguments, this is a fixed width RISC. They've slimmed down the architecture, not made it more complex. It's also backward compatible, which is perfect. I like ARM, always have.
With my old Dyson I just press a button in the top of the handle and carry the plastic container out to the bin, separate it's two halves over the bin and shake out the dust. The drop it back in place. That's not really a messy job.
I do need to wash the filters every year or so, as it loses suction because a safety valve blows on the side, as I guess it thinks the pipe is block by something, but it's actually the filter that's clogged.
"As someone who prefers ATI/AMD's offerings, I'd actually prefer a bit more fracturing."
As long as the drivers work correctly and any GLSL code works logically and consistently, then it doesn't matter to me who makes bloody things.
Developers are going to target the mid-range computers for their first foray into Steam OS - which will inevitably lower the average game's visual quality. But I suppose I care a little more than I should! Oh well.
...the number of machines. Starting fractured is not great. From a developer point of view it would be better to only have one or two consoles. With only one being the games target, the other a media/video/web machine.
To what spec do developer's target for maximum income? Aiming for the top spec machine won't go down well with the accountants and suits in that meeting!
So the mid range machine to be targeted by developers will probably always be crappier than the PS4.
We all know the spec heavy games will show up in Steam regardless of whether they'll work or not on your living room box. And that's pretty ugly presentation.
I would have thought the general public would prefer NOT to be confused over these weird numbered specifications, so they'll choose the XBone or PS4 instead?
As they sit in the nineties and stare at a blank wall. Silly bastards, they can't even catch up with things happening in the last decade, they frustrate me so much, it's getting annoying now. Come on MS get some hardware nonse about your selves! Developers, developers, developers, are using more popular products to push their software. It's getting dark for them, argh and it's horrible to watch. No I can't watch. ;(
An OS should just be a background management system. Barclays Bank uses XP, and many shops use XP. Last time I looked, a high street phone shop used a DOS like system. The guys working there hated it, but the guys that wrote it know what it's doing at all times, as the users don't go on the Internet, and don't bend rules, they are perfectly controlled. And the computers are really, really cheap.
MS, Apple, and Google are in the business of selling the 'new' and 'improved' and a lot of trendies buy it because it's all about being with the highest version number they can get, which is kind of sad. These companies are in the business of making people jealous of others with the latest bit of kit. It's their business model.
I bet If Apple invented the guitar, they would have redacted the strings long ago! ;) Hah.
But that's not the point. Being a software developer makes me one of the trendies, but not the majority.
My old dad uses XP, he can print stuff, use the Internet with Chrome, and write emails in Thunderbird; what do most people use a computer for? Human stuff, of course. Many, many millions of non-tech people that don't need change for the sake of it, and they think their ten year old PC is actually still 'new?' Wonderful.
I turned off the background tilt shift thing immediately as it's also pointless and it zoomed my back picture in a bit to achieve the effect without black borders appearing.
You can turn that little effect off, but you CANNOT turn off the massive zooming in and out animation!
They must be so proud of it, that they didn't want anybody to disable it. Either that or they've given up actually testing stuff with normal people, just like MS! : )
.
I use it all the time. With thousand of radios stations, and blogs, and the ability to record and set sleep timers, it was quite a natural switch over to Internet radio. I really don't think people need DAB in their homes.
I've heard of an Internet radio station that tried to go DAB, but they could could only afford mono(!), and only in London. Why would anybody bother using DAB instead of the Internet for broadcasts.
In TuneIn I've got a favourite channel that broadcasts 24-7 Goon Show back to back, with no advertisements. Now that's entertaining.
...so they can flood the market with Win8 based fondle-bricks. But no-one's told them they're not the only brand out there.
Plus, they've got a public image problem, which is somewhere around - 'out of touch bearded nerd that likes to confuse ordinary people.' Microsoft's scary and cryptic error messages are a great topic for some stand-up comics.
"There are 2 error(s)" was always a pet hate for me, I'm mean, how lazy is that?!? :) But that's OT.
They'll demand you remove this article , then haul you off to jail, screaming and waving frantically as your heels scrape backwards across the office carpet.
Probably.
The problem with toy cameras like the ones in all phones, is that the lens is far too small to take low light shots, and the shutter needs to be open for longer to let more light in. This in turn means blurred low definition pictures, as you can't possibly hold the camera still enough.
And the download was less than 10 minutes. If you!re not going to use WiFi then it's your own fault for long delays.
The video posted on the article called 'listening to these days' only has audio up to 20 seconds on my ipad 2! I don't know if that's an update problem though.
I don't like the look of the icons now. They've taken too much corner off, and it looks like a robot's sweet shop.
This stuff, if true, comes from a gland, not it's turd chute.
Sausages contain said chute, the contents of the whole inside of an animal, and anything they jet wash off the bones.
Fry them up with a couple of chicken abortions and you've got yourself a lovely breakfast.
And it only covers part of your thumb, and it's against the law to retain fingerprints at will. We don't know what data it takes or stores, it may not even be like traditional finger print at all.
So would the Sheepdroids please stop sneering and get back to stealing software and dodging viruses.
I got my last 1.3 HDMI cable from Amazon for 32p! But all the audiophiles will insist that their £100+ cable is better, despite my protestations about digital handshaking. And no, the connector wasn't loose or a bad fit, that's another myth spread by suckers who bought their cable from Curry's at an enormous price.
They seem to be firmly targeted at women. They are often based on 'hidden object' games, but some are quite sophisticated puzzles, but they are generally a ghost story in a spooky mansion kind of thing.
Although none of them as hard as Myst, simply because they know their target audience is 'casual' and they'll not want to write things down on paper whilst playing.
There's loads and loads of them, look:-

It was refreshing because it was clearly written by a guy who didn't like or play computer games, and tested it on ordinary family and friends who didn't necessarily play computer games.
I preferred the more sophisticated Riven though (on Playstation 1), that's an imaginary world I'll never forget.
Postal was twisted and had an odd atmosphere, and he's actually IN the film defending his own films, which is quite amusing. It's nowhere near his worst film, which in my opinion is 'Alone in The Dark,' as it simply didn't make any sense at all!
He makes profit from German film grants, and his films are so budget starved he probably makes enough money to have another go. So they just keep churning them out, and they seem to have fun doing so.
I have no idea how he gets some big names to appear in his films though, maybe they lost a bet or something. :)
...Doctors advising pregnant women to move away from open windows. This was their best advice because, well, what else could they do? It impossible to figure out what's real in that situation.
Although we don't know the real long term effects of the damaged rector are, it would be nice to know whether the Japanese government is going through total denial of the situation, or whether everything really is safe for now.
The only problem Apple needed to fix is the 10 minutes after someone has entered their password. During that time the kid is handed back the iDevice and does not need to enter the password again for 10 minutes. This happened to the family who won compensation for the costs run up by their little monster, through further 'items' bought in the game. "Do you want more gems?"
In App purchases have wrecked gaming IMHO, and turned it into something like the cash grabbing arcades from the late 80s.
A couple of wires had come loose from the top. As he tugged at the wires in confusion as to what they were, two guys got out of a car behind him, and beat him to a pulp! I think he'll call the police before interfering with a crook's hardware in future.
By 'cloud' I mean a flashing black box in an unknown room, in an unknown town, in an unknown country, owned by an unknown individual, to store my personally valuable source code. Then I thought, I wonder how big the largest password key can be on WinRar? And thinking about folding it more than twice inside other passworded RARs...oh dear.
In the end I put it on a flash drive and gave it to a disinterested (not a computer person) friend to look after away from the house!
Paranoid? Not one bit. Happy about the backup's security? Hell yes!
