Re: The American-centric universe

@Jason

I appreciate the general sentiment, but it's unfair to cite "World Series" as an example of American insularity.

The World Series was named after (for?!) its first sponsor, a now-defunct eponymous newspaper.

Re: IBM

Well, relied upon the channel yet simultaneously tied the channel up in red (blue?) tape and reduced its incentives for selling IBM.

Oracle dubs Solaris 11 world's 'first cloud OS'

Valiant
Meh

No-one's listening ...

Oracle's attitude towards customers and the reseller channel, has been so heavy-handed that the former are leaving in droves, and only the usual tin-shifters are left amongst the latter.

Dell exec questions UK.gov's 'value proposition'

Paris Hilton

Resist for a minute ....

... the opportunity to put the boot in - and no-one hates Dell more than I do - and read what he actually says, and see that there's a hefty dollop of Home Truth there:

"“Government expects its outsourcing service provider to maintain the complexity rather than to simplify and standardise the work processes ... [which, with] people are moved to the provider in their existing state and are independently managed next to countless similar processes of other companies. Consequently, the cost and service benefits of standardisation and simplification are lost."

Paris, because she'll lift the flaps and see what's revealed.
