We didnt invest enough or at least invest in the right places. If they had invested in Mr Whittle's ideas or put money into some of the other Rolls Royce engines we would have had a wider variety of aircraft that easy surpassed rather than matched their Luftwaffe counterparts.

I thought the rare part of the name was just a hangover from when they were first discovered and that Chinese can simply produce them so cheaply that they put the rest of the world's mines completely out of business long before they stopped yeilding any mateirals

I think Charles is right, not necessarily because you are wrong but batteries warm as they charge anyway and becasue the phone is also sat on the warm pad everything heats up just a little bit more from being in direct contact with it. Further to that I expect that if left on the pad after charging will probably stay warm for longer too
I have one, and I do use it, but I dont think its mystery why Qi pads havent taken off
1. they cost more than a standard cable
2. most are slower than a standard cable
3. for the environmentally concious they take up more resources than a cable and are less energy efficient
4. its just one more item of clutter in the home - and it still needs the same cable sticking out of it
5. its a proper first world problem that doesnt really need a solution (it not actually that hard to plug in a phone esp usb c)
6 if you charge on the move its yet another thing to take with you
7 if you charge in multiple locations and dont take one with you thats multiple more charging pads to buy

If they compete with Google on a 1%, 0.01%, or 0% margin why cant they compete and still keep that vow?
I would imagine keeping more than a 5% profit margin would be the difficult thing for an unknown trying to elbow their way into a market.

There's enough space to fit 6 music on fm as for the rest of the 'choice' a grand total of about 300 people will miss them and loosing it will save everyone a fortune.
Mobile listening on DAB is crap batteries only last a few hours at best whereas an old tranny can last weeks on a few D cells.
I'm assuming you usually fill up at your sons house with a Jerry Can of some sort?
Seriously just charge your car at a service station (or two, OK maybe three) on the way. There is no denying that for that journey its going to be a faff but its not generally that hard and console yourself that for the 98% of the rest of the time you wont be visiting any petrol stations and will charge at home. Also feel smug that in the cold weather that your car will have defrosted and preheated itself.
erm if by a great deal you mean 7% which is probably going to reduce to 0% by 2025
Also an EV on coal power alone will still be responsible for generating between a 1/3 and 1/4 of the emmisions from a petrol let alone diesel car.

Seiously having had one for 3 years the very worst thing about EVs is the frigging smart cards and apps.
Just make them ugly, reliable and add a chip and pin card reader for debit cards

It's rubbish by design they need to show there is little market for them for as long as possible to minimise shareholder rumblings.
Men in sheds have been making 'good enough' electric conversions of ice optimised designs for many years.
All of the manufacturers know they can produce something decent after throwing a small team of engineers teams at the problem in fairly short order.
With minimal margins no one really wants the expense of pioneering the EV market, but have no doubt every car maker is more than prepared to become a fast follower.

Forget the made up analysis based on what we currently produce and use and what we might use
There's a reason for the limited overhead and that because the overhead costs money and is pure waste.
The national grid will always only ever and deliberately have the tiniest amount of spare capacity, when it gets too big it gets cut back, when it gets too small it gets added to.

Planning regs and local legislation often limit the number of flights coming in an out of an airport out of consideration for local residents especially at night. This is especially true of city airports, which are precisely the sort of places the first smaller electrified (not fully electric) aircraft will excell.
Wright electric think their electric aircraft reduce noise by 50% and fuel by 10%
