PETA monkey selfie lawsuit threatens wildlife photography, warns snapper at heart of row

i HATE PETA

I really hate PETA, they have devolved into an organization whose goals are insane and their methods immoral (by humans standards mind you). I think we should all just assume animal moral standards and just rip their head off and eat them.

You silly boy...

Any artificial increase in price will almost automatically generate a black market that will totally blast your perceived benefits. Making it "obscure" by eliminating advertising will make it "cooler" for kids... you know because kids love things that are "banned". Tobacco consumption is going down in the west, not because of banning, but for the actual education of general population about the damage that it causes.

Education is the answer, not laws.

My English is a little fuzzy right now, but shouldn't it be "A LED" instead of "AN LED" since its preceding a word starting in consonant and not vowel. This is the kind of error that should not be. EVER.

Most stuff made with c don't even run on windows, or even have an interface for that matter. people seam to forget that almost everything with a chip also has some programming done and burned in a ROM somewhere, and C is the most common language to write that stuff. C is #2 on TIOBE but i wonder if a more specific count would be done on these small gadget if it would not jump to # 1 by a whole order of magnitude.

Future wars will be over water not fuel, warns Intel sage

rciafardone
Boffin

You don't need to bring sweet water from other continents, Jut create a salt water pipeline that uses solar energy to evaporate part of it. the pure water can be then collected and served to the local population. It is a complex and large system, but perfectly feasible with current tech, heck you could do it with 1700 tech, but clear plastic is better that glass, or so i think.

i know you are probably jocking but...

Gravity is indeed proportional to the mass of an object. The question is where are the "gravity waves" that cause stuff to be sticky at a distance. Nothing we know of can "disrupt" or alter the gravitational influence. Gravity is weird, is the only force that is only attractive. Tho i would not be surprised is the repulsive force that is supposed to be accelerating the expansion of the universe is gravity's unknown repulsive counterpart.

Anti-gravity... now that's a cool concept.

"Do the evolution Baby"

I am a Ubuntu user. I tried other linux distros but after a couple of days i was installing WIndowse back, because well... i was young and i wanted to play games, dual buttting was anoying. I wanted a system to do all. Nowadays games are way below my scale, and ubuntu has all the tools i need for my daily work so...

Anyway Windows and MS impact cant be denied, is a simple system that made computers easy for most people at a good price. Does it act as a predator devouring anything that puts itself in its way? Yes. But as any biologist will tell you predators are good for the prey (as a species of course, not the sucker who got served as dinner).

The sick, the old, the stupid and the "unfit" feed the beast and push evolution forward Mac barely survived until it brake away and created (literally) their own ecosystem. Linux is stronger than ever, fragmentation is not bad, is good, is the fucking core element of open systems. People don't use it more ether because they don't know it or don't need it (because the apps they use are not in Linux). I use Ubuntu cause i like it, and it works for me, other use Debian, Mint, freaking ratPoison, cause it is what is works for them.

If tomorrow Ubuntu fails to deliver (as 11.04 is hinting at, I am still on 10.10 thank you very much). I will go back to Windows or try other distro, Mac is out of the question, it simply not my stile... for now.

rciafardone
Thumb Up

Exactly. Canonical embraces open in its true sense. Dogmatically enforcing a style (even your own) is not "open".

Nuclear power is a dead end just like oil, and incredibly scarce and messy to boot. Wind is unreliable. A Solar/hydrogen system is the best bet. Use solar energy to produce hydrogen and accumulate it then, use it as fuel. This eliminates the variability factor once stock of hydrogen have been filled. Plus we are not even close to the max amount of energy we can get for every cm2 of panel.

I plan to stay on 10.10...

Ubuntu 10.10 does everything i need right now. Only if i change my machine i would consider to change the OS. I usually lag behind 2 releases to make sure all mayor pains are already purged out and forums are filled with solutions to the minor tweaks.

You can always change Ubuntu, or any other distro of Linux to your liking. I don't care if synaptic is faced out of the main install, i will install it anyway. They can default anything they like as long as they don't PREVENT later customization. That is what makes Linux so superior to Mac or Windows (there are like dozens of reasons buts that's the one that fits this discussion :P)
