Wow - not only "simultaneous use of multiple cameras", nor even just "use of multiple cameras at once", but the full-blown "simultaneous use of multiple cameras at once"!

Looking forward to Solaris 11.next this year? Whomp-whomp. Check again in 2018

Re: Oracle SPARC is dead ???

Yep, that is the real big story here: confirmation (following news of mass layoffs in SPARC/Solaris engineering) that there will be no more SPARC products after the already completed M8 chip is released. And presumably no more new server platforms either.

Please could you share a link to the YT documentary. It sounds fascinating. (A brief Google search was unproductive).

Custom silicon, 9PB storage boxes, and 25Gb Ethernet – just another day in AWS hardware

ThreadGuy

Actually 25GBASE-T and 40GBASE-T will both work over Cat-8 cable. The standards were ratified earlier this year, not that lack of standards is likely to hold back a big monolithic operation like AWS.

"in the four years since he left the company"??

He stepped down as CEO but didn't leave. He is still there as of yesterday, working as the president of Sun Federal.

Oracle, Sun speed-launch Exadata V2

ThreadGuy
WTF?

Solaris?

So no SPARC in this product, fair enough. But a Sun-branded solution that doesn't lead with Solaris? That's crazy talk.

Oh, and Fowler is an *Executive* Vice President at Sun. That sort of distinction seems to matter greatly to those in the thin air of the executive offices.
