The Orange network coverage has been disappointing to say the least since moving our business account over to them from Vodafone. Actually that's not entirely true. Back in March when we signed up everything was fine but since then the number of dropped calls and the mysterious full bars but not ringing thing has increased dramatically.
We've signed up for the Orange/T-Mobile partnership but still had to turn off 3G on all our handsets just to make them usable. Orange CS (when you get a rep who will be honest with you) say this situation is unlikely to change until January at the earliest.
...Linux has a thousand and one alternatives for this M$ Windows bloatware. Stuff like Funky Gibbon 9 and Heelooloopharp Media Sweet! or Twiddler9 (l33t edition)? And they're not just alternatives, they're far superior I've heard.
Be honest Michelle. You wouldn't have bought them if you were on Linux or Windows. Kudos for getting the penguin in though.
And how long after release of the N8 will it be until Nokia produce yet another 'flagship' phone? A week? Two?
Nokia hardware is usually impressive but unfortunately the woefully out of date Symbian will always be it's Achilles Heel. I don't care how many megapixels or HDMI connections it's got Nokia, it's all about the OS.
Both bailiffs and debt collectors are mentioned in the article and readers comments. Which is it? As many will no doubt be aware they are not the same thing. Bailiffs should usually be taken seriously, debt collectors on the other hand can be safely ignored. Or sworn at and ejected from your property. Whatever takes your fancy.
Odd that I can thank the DVLA for indirectly making me aware of this. If they didn't happily give out everyone's personal details to any Tom, Dick or Harry who wants to set up a private parking company (for £2.50), I wouldn't have discovered places such as CAG or Pepipoo, I would have been £60 worse off for going 5 minutes over and I wouldn't have a growing pile of threatening letters from Excel. Which I'm ignoring.
OK then clever clogs, tell me how much extra time I should allow when I'm travelling to see a client in a city I'm unfamiliar with. Obviously taking into account maps (folded or otherwise), A-Zs and generally getting held up by the inevitable nutcase you stop and ask directions off? Unfortunately I'm trying to navigate to exact addresses in eg the middle of Birmingham or Manchester, not meandering through the the good old US of A. And as far as I'm aware the Automobile Association Of America don't cover Wolverhampton.
I don't drive a BMW either.
My thoughts exactly and no bad thing. I received one of these the other day as a 'free' upgrade and intended to just do the usual unlock, de-brand, sell it on eBay. But I'm quite taken with it. A little larger and heavier than my N95 8GB but it feels better screwed together and the software is certainly snappier. I still unlocked and debranded it but I think this one may be a keeper.
"Also, would be good if someone did a full on review of its AV capabilities Vs. some of the paid for options..."
Well not a full review but this week I had the 'pleasure' of dealing with something particularly nasty on a relative's XP machine. One of those fake AV scanners that installs itself after some ill advised clicking. It walked straight through McAfee Total Protection and disabled it, wouldn't allow the running of Malwarebytes and just stopped the installation of Spybot altogether. It also thumbed it's nose at my one time favourite Nod32. MSE was the only thing that identified it and attempted to do anything useful.
I've been using it since release on my own machines and like some of the above like it's low key approach. I'll take a stab in the dark and guess that the nay sayers haven't used it or any other MS products in a little while.
