Planes for sale - cheap.
They are probably going to manufacture them in bulk to flog to nations that cannot afford western tech. The Chinese are great at making and selling cheap stuff (never mind the quality).

"Every large company runs foul of their suppliers. It often has nothing to do with cost cutting. And even a previously reliable supplier can produce unreliable shit. Thats the way it goes."
True, but it is how the large company deals with customers afterwards that is the issue here, I think.
It seemed like not that long ago that the word "integrity" and the phrase "customer focus" was synonymous with Dell. This episode shows that Dell, like so many others, now smells like a dead fish. I too have been burned by the gap between their so-called "cusotmer focus" and the sad reality that is now Dell.
I have never owned a phone with WinMo and would never buy one. The oft-flaky behaviour displayed by my computer does not give me enough confidence to take that leap, regardless of how illogical that may sound. The Nokia 5800 is quite good (and great value for money) but the competition is really hotting up now.
"... and then? I smell a deal has been done."
Yes, something definitely smells a bit off. I think that HTC is trying to have two bob each way but I'm not so sure this is a smart move on their part. The HTC brand is strong, but not strong enough to force people to a Win mobile OS if they basically don't like/want it.
then the day it is able to be proved is the day the company will lose a *lot* of credibility (and gain a *lot* of scorn) I reckon. It's a dangerous gamble if it is a PR stunt.
Also, I don't blame the guy for coming up with such an idiotic name, I blame the decision makers who actually thought it was a good name. Idjits.
Oh, they sell Marmite here in Oz so I must buy some and taste it to see what all you limeys are on about, as I lerv Vegemite. I have a feeling though that it will be (like Vegemite) an acquired taste and whichever one you grow up with is the one you love.
marketing types avoid using certain terms like "basic" or "beginner". The cheapest, lowest-featured edition is called 'Premium', which is a word normally associated with higher-end stuff. Kinda like a hamburger chain not selling drinks called 'small' but offering 'regular' instead.
Those pesky chickens have come home to roost in the Redmond barn.
- MS owns the desktop (for now)
- Google owns the web
- Google owns search
I can envision a time in the future where users, misty eyed, will remember the "good old days" when we used to almost always use MS software. They will then be bitching about Google.
How many of the people we saw on the news arguing rabidly against Obama's plan were funded by the health care insurers and other vested interests? I live in Oz and would gladly pay a little more towards improving public health even if some other poor bugger has to use it and not me.
