You ain't from around here, are you pardner? Why don't you mosey on over to the next website if this one is not to your liking, will ya?

Too late though, already lots of (American) politics is (are?) being discussed on this site / comments.

Although, to be fair, this article should be more at home in Bootnotes?

I miss my kaiser2 (not at&t's coverage!) Same goes for my old blackberry torch 9800. Stuck with a 9930 on Verizon; simply because of the keyboard... No slide-out, though :-(

Um, you trolling, right?

That's what so dual about all this. Not calling the anti-abortion killers terrorists. Not calling the McVeighs terrorists. Think about that for a minute. No, of course, that's different, because that is just fighting the government.

What about the Rote Armee Faktion, the Jackals, the English natives that bombed the subway, the Spanish that bombed their subways? The Moluccans hijacking the train in the Netherlands in the 70's.

getting rid of the Muslims solves it. Yeah, right

Ignorance.

But so easy, huh? Point a finger at something that doesn't fit your frame of reference, or uses a religion (not yours, of course) to justify all these acts of violence.

Think about that hypocrisy when you vote in the US, this November. Don't forget to point out to everyone within earshot that Barack Husein Obama is a Muslim. And vote for that Mormon instead. Because at least that's a western religion, right? Those people would never resort to viol nce against their fellow Westerner.

Vendors should stop pretending that these laptops are useful for the 'professional' group of users. They are not.

But, if 'professional' means 'having lots of disposable income', then they're right on the money, of course. So maybe it's just semantics. Potato, Potato.

I, for one, would welcome the vendor overlords that provide me with larger vertical resolutions.

Re: Agile development works well ... if done properly

- why the need to say it needs done properly?

It's probably the same thing that drives 'lower-end' car repair shops coming up with names that contain 'excellent' and 'expert' .

On a totally unrelated note - drove by a car repair shop somewhere in the boonies. "Excellent Car Repairs - puts the Irv in Service".

Got me thinking - kinda like Dogma with the Catholic Church's ad campaign. Might have included 'Catholic Church - Puts the Awe in Gawd'.

But, coming back to Agile. Some parts can be done Agile-y - but let's make an effort of designing / building some sort of foundation first, using more traditional approaches? Then at least you know that you're not constantly rewriting / redesiging the most basic of functionalities.

To me Agile is perfect for a project that has loads of budget, and most of the stakeholders don't really know what they want to do with that money.

(one party in the stakeholders does, of course. the people providing the manpower for spending that money).

Re: Trigger Happy!

Oh, and let's see how long people last sitting next to me on 'business calls' while I'm humming and singing nursery rhymes. No rules against that, are there?

If I have to listen to their Very Important Input during their meetings, they might as well listen to me improving my singing skills.

TheRealRoland

Re: Trigger Happy!

What I don't get is that these people feel that it's their right to use any electronics during the takeoff and landing phase of the flight.

Just the fact that you have not heard of any accidents does not give you the -right- to have this stuff switched on.

You might as well start running red lights (because you don't know anyone that got killed while doing that) or running around naked on a plane (because you don't know anyone that got killed while doing that).

Yes, your justification is that ridiculous.

Currently the rule is that during takeoff and landing this equipment has to be switched off. What's so difficult to understand about that?

If you don't like that, make all efforts to have that rule changed. But don't 'flaunt' it.

But, I guess I'm one of those of a 'dying breed'.

I'll still rat you out when you sit next to me and have that crap switched on. Of course, only while it's still the rule.

Boffins computerize giant cyborg cockroaches

Funny you should mention that...

about the 'awwwww' factor of puppies, and the 'yuck!' factor of cockroaches. I watched some History Channel 'documentary' about things that last a long time; one of the subjects was cockroaches. One of the researchers, on camera, cut off the head of a roach, and showed that both the head and body were able to keep on living.

One part of me (the head?) thought 'animal cruelty'... Interesting stuff, nonetheless.

BTW, anyone noticed how 'revisionist' / sensationalist the programs are getting? Apocalypse Island, all that IMO crap about aliens and ancient civilizations...

Re: Huh? Nokia, RIM?

Funny how people only look at the US market, when making broad statements.

RIM is doing pretty well in the 'developing markets' (or whatever negative euphemisms analysts use nowadays) such as Asia, Africa.

Lower-spec phones with a good OS are still good phones for what they need to do in those areas.

Not everywhere is the phone system as 'advanced' as in the US / Europe. And not everywhere in the US / Europe is the phone system as 'advanced' as in other parts of that same area.

The fact remains that a large number of phones use one form or another of Java.

Am not surprised

When using Blackberry Bridge to connect a BBerry phone to the Playbook - if you use the Blackberry Bridge software provided by AT&T, it signals you that you need to pay up to use this functionality.

But if you download and install the same software provided by any other provider, you can bridge as much as you want, free of charge...

So, i switched to another provider.

But guess what? They're just as bad. They're not there for you - you're there for them, to be milked as much as possible, while 'providing' you with the least amount of service that you're willing to live with. So, pick your poison.

The epson is a simple dvd/surround sound projector, was about $500. Produces enough noise to get around the sound of the furnace downstairs. Should also work outside, summer eves etc.
