None of the above

All this money being spent on basic research makes for interesting educational television programming but when are we going to put a colony on another planet? That's when space will get interesting again. The potential benefits include humans surviving an Earth strike by a huge asteroid and WARS WITH REAL MARTIANS!!! We have to put people on Mars so that we can have wars with them. That's what people do best so let's do it in the solar system.

"...So that's OK then..."

"Your number will also be associated with your account to avoid unnecessary future verifications for other Google services", though the Do-No-Evil company does clarify: "your number will never be sold or shared for marketing purposes without your permission, nor will we contact you using this number without your express permission".

So that's OK then"

Rough draft - I thought it was obvious ...

I'm not sure if this is going to show up as Henry 9 but I am he who posted the first comment.

YES YES YES I agree that THE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE FOR CHOOSING THE PRODUCT ARE THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO SHOULD SUFFER FOR MAKING THE POOR CHOICE OF PRODUCT.

DUH!!!

Hey. The problem with this type of comment platform is that we are all posting rough drafts of our ideas. Had I taken a few hours to put the comment aside and review it later, as one would do with a business proposal or a school essay, I might have fleshed it out a bit more. On the other hand it seems obvious to me that the only people who should suffer the consequences of a bad decision are the people who were authorized to make that decision.

Once again ... DUH!

How long does it take some people to learn?

McAffee has been a terrible product for many years. Any professional IT support person should have learned that years ago. Any professional IT support people using McAffee products in business should be fired for incompetence.

Shuttleworth's bad timing

Recent upgrades in Ubuntu, Shuttleworth's distribution of Linux, have managed to cause lots of hardware to stop working. My own computers have stopped playing any audio and stopped working with my web cams. There are lots of questions on linuxquestions.org complaining of hardware problems when using Ubuntu and its derivatives. If you read the ubuntuforums.org you will see that there are lots of questions posted there about hardware that was working and has stopped following some update. The Canonical team has really messed up and there is no indication that they have any interest in fixing these many hardware compatibility problem.

If you want to try Linux I would have to recommend PC Linux OS (pclinuxos.com). Their 2009.1 product appears to be working fairly well with a broad range of hardware. Unfortunately, as with all Linux distributions, there is no guarantee that any given update will break a hardware driver and leave you with a crippled machine and no idea if the developers even want to fix the problem that they created.

Mind you I hate Microsnot but I also am very frustrated with the way that Linux distributions are managed by their developers.

And don't even think about mentioning Macintosh. Those overpriced smug boxes are getting almost as many viruses as Windows computers.
