Christmas greetings

In the middle 60's my dad received a christmas card from an RAF colleague which had a picture of a Vulcan on the front, bomb-bay doors open showing a Blue Steel air-launched nuclear missile.

Inside the card was the message "Peace on Earth and Goodwill to All Men".

The Airfix kit was the biggest piece of plastic I owned for many years.

LICKED: Behold my TOAD-PROOF ERECTION, boasts Aussie boffin

Alphabet Soup 1

I've never licked one but I have tasted the toxin. On a warm Queensland summer evening I go out and skewer toads with a garden fork (I can get 20 a night) and once one squirted toxin onto my face and lips. Obviously I spat it out in hurry but I can confirm that it tastes bitter and that it made me feel ill. No hallucinogenic effects, just nausea. Cane toads are horrible things, they eat any animals smaller than themselves and kill most things that try to eat them.

The fence only works in areas where water is limiting - around Brisbane there is currently loads of water around. I guess it'll work better than golf clubs, toads are so tough that I suspect one of the ways they've spread so quickly around Australia is that they're being driven with a 1-wood 150 yards at a time.

Re: ROTM @Voland's right hand

Agree about the Sulphur Crests, what's interesting about these things is that they can be taught to talk, whistle, sing and laugh so they can make pretty much any noise they choose. They just prefer to squawk. We get them every morning too.

Not quite in the same league as quadcopter drone but my son's RC pterodactyl gets attacked by our thuggish flocks of Noisy Miners.

Not wasps, wasp

Just one builds the nest; she then stings a spider and bites its legs off so it can't run away. It's then placed into the nest with an egg and provides a fresh food source for junior wasp. They're a fact of life here in Brizzie; I have had them make nests inside my desktop when I've been stupid enough to leave it with the case open.

If you want a Single Player version, check out Oolite.

As for me - this might just provide the impetus I need for me to make the jump to multi-player games.

Eating camel

Roos are great eating but having eaten camel I reckon they pretty much taste how they look -

there used to be a camel-trekking place near Alice Springs that had the tagline "book early and get a good-looking one!".

While we're on the subject; a few years ago there were estimated to be more feral pigs than humans here in Australia.
