well, i played the old ones on pc.

the thing is now that publishers and game houses just churn out the same buggy shite over and over. look at EA. that's what we are pissed off over!

the majority of people who are hardcore gamers just dont even consider buying a handheld.

also, london-centric people, remember the vast majority of people do not commute by train to work. or bus, even. remember there is this big place outside of london, called england, where the majority of people live and work.

if i was to get a handheld it would be a psp2 - the nintendo feels too kiddified to me. but i drive to work.

this film is one of the most fucked up films ever. and not in the good way. stuff like'bad boy buddy' is fucked up but in a good way. i think this is one of those ones that wants to see how nasty it can be.

not really sure about all this torture and snuff type of thing that seems to be coming out so often. i seriously worry about people who like films like hostel.

played the first one with the mrs. very good, as you say, for 2 people. its ont game i found myself trying to redo levels to do them better too. only problem was we finished it then traded it before too much community stuff was produced.

ok, so output from hdmi i can get. but how does the reciever hdmi dongle get power? does hdmi carry power like a usb dongle? or are we talking about units with the tech built in?

for instance if my tv doesnt have wihdi or whatever it is how will the hdmi dongle get powered?

i ask as at the moment i have hdmi via a 15m cable from the pc in corner of the lounge to my hdmi amp on the other side of the lounge. this was done initially to play games on the home cinema from the pc. i am looking at relocating the pc to somewhere in the lounge that i cannot really cable to the amp from.

on the bright side they sent me an email today saying they have doubled everyone's upload speed. just need to reboot the cable modem. not that i really upload anything and i only really download game updates and demos and some youtube

to a certain extent they are right about piracy and sales.

when i was poor, just out of college, i downloaded lots of divx movies. over the years as my pay increased i bought more and more and downloaded less and less. i havent downloaded a movie in about 10 years now and i buy all my media

its the same with things like photoshop. how is someone at college going to afford photoshop? they get a pirate version and learn to use it. then when they get a job they request the employer to buy an adobe suite and thats where adobe gets its stupid amounts of cash. same with MS Office, we learn on pirate verions, so at work we know how to use it. if people were forced to buy at home they would all be used to openoffice and MS Office would crash and burn.

its a similar thing with games, play a pirate version, if you like it buy the full version to play online.

i spend thousands on media every year so they definately benefit from me having downloaded stuff in the past.

also, you have to take into account that lots of people download because they can. often they would not have even considered buying that material in the first place. but studios take that as a loss in sales.

i go by the old addage, if you like it, buy it. i dont mind supporting film makers i like or game houses that create quality software.

i tried the streaming service via ps3. terrible selection of movies and really poor quality too.

i will stick with tescodvdrental even though it uses lovefilm.

sony make money from software/game sales so i can see why they didnt want the console hacked easily like the wii and xbox. the fact it is still only almost possible after 4 years is a success for sony. after all i think they will release details for ps4 very soon.

- but the ps3 doesnt SEEM to have this BS. you can play all games offline. you can play almost all of them on any system (apart from the EA ones that require you to use a serial), meaning you can resell them (unlucky pc guys) and lend them to mates. the fact that the ps3 has been so well locked down has meant much fairer online gaming (no bots etc on ps3 online games - something that ruined pc online games years ago for me)

i would imagine that sony has made more money from game sales than wii and xbox due to their ease of copying games.

i can see how about 0.0001% of people who own a ps3 might be interested in linux on it but we all know the vast majority of hacking is purely to run copyritten games, meaning loss of income for sony. in the end we will all end up paying for that. look how many games do not make it to PC now as developers know their games will rarely be copied if playing on ps3 for example.

you can often buy the game cheaper as a dvd/cd than off steam.

thing is companies like EA are not happy about the 2nd hand market at all. hence games like fifa11 need to be registered using a serial number so that if you sell it on the next person has to stump up £10 to play it.

to me this shouldnt be allowed. if you buy a game you own it. fair enough if they reduce the price by £10 but they will not. i should be allowed to sell it on.

i think most companies will also not allow 2nd sales of pc games.

erm - to play online games you cant wait that long. if people are still playing they will be vastly superior after 2 years of knowing maps and ranking up (talking fps here not geek-fest WOW etc)

stopped buying ubisoft games when they put copyprotection on GAMESAVES! yes, thats right, ps3 dies, you lose all your gamesaves. how shit is that?

the next tv i will buy will most likely be an OLED 3d TV. but thats in a few years. at present i have a nice 42" HDTV. 3d will only truely take off when you dont have to wear glasses. i think we still have a while before they are of decent enough quality at an OK price. glasses like the ones in the cinema are crap as they desaturate so much. avatar 3d was good but killed the colours so much. for me it looked vastly superior on my tv on blu-ray and 2d!

its not enough of a gamechanger for me as HDTV was (bought one about a month after i bought a ps3)

i wear glasses for watching tv and the cinema anyway so i dont have a problem with wearing specs.

i do have an issue with how much colour saturation is lost via the specs. admittedly avatar was impressive at the cinema but i found that at home in 2d on blu-ray looked far better. the colours were much more impressive. with 3d glasses its like someone went into photoshop and reduced the saturation by 50%- feeling semi B&W

i guess most kids have a console of some sort. if you asked me i would rather have an ipad over a console - since i own a ps3.

now, if they only asked the kids that didnt have a console it would be more accurate way of finding which ones kids prefer.

these arent single player games...

hardly anyone plays the single players on this type of game, its almost all online. the single player is generally just to fluff it out and for the odd review.

maybe they should sell a cheaper version for just online or single player?

sounds to me like battlefield games are still the superior squad based games.
