Schrems' Facebook case edges closer to ruling over EU-US data flows

They forgot an obvious question

"Is it proportional to process the data of an EU citizen for national security purposes in the third country if the person whose data is processed cannot even claim standing within the courts of that third country for lack of connection to that third country?"

Which is a fancy phrasing of "Hey CJEU, who died and made the USA the emperor and supreme generalissimo of the world?"

A stab in the dark

"A review of security procedures has been launched."

I bet they are checking whether "don't allow a member of the public to obtain your weapon" is actually one of the security procedures...

Smoke and mirrors

"They already do so for Windows and Linux, among many others, so why is this considered so unlikely? Because it's a little bit hard? Seriously?"

This is considered unlikely because Apple has decided to add their "secret Apple sauce" to the Mac JVM. This gives Java apps on the Mac just a little more 'zing' than they have on the Sun/Oracle-supported Java implementations. Your first outcome requires Apple to give their secret sauce recipe to Oracle. Not impossible, just highly improbable.

Netherlands

The reason that a lot of international companies operate (partly) from the Netherlands is not the low tax per se, but the finely woven web of international tax treaties and the ability to offset losses in one country with profits in another country. VERY effective for your bottom line!
