New British flying robot killer death machines renamed 'Protector'

Jemma

A-20...

It was called Havoc because trying to fly the things in formation caused havoc, they were notorious for having about the same level of pilot visibility as you'd have sitting in a cardboard box in a snowstorm. Certainly not Douglas's finest hour (still better than the Fairy Barracuda, it's party trick was dousing its pilots (in the face) with hydraulic fluid at such high pressures it knocked them unconscious).

You paraphrase FIAT they were both "designed by morons, built by peons".

Re: Against British Law

7/7 wasn't stopped because it wasn't in the interest of the government to stop it. They were warned that certain people were looking for ammonium nitrate fertiliser who didn't have any reason to want it. I know because it was a member of my family who bloody warned them. They ignored the warnings. These charming gentlemen managed to buy it off farm anyway (despite being followed by piggies for months) ... And then the police tried to put the boot into my relative, who told them in no uncertain terms to, as the Plymouth Brethren might put it, to "go *bleep* thyselves, up the fundament, lacking the soothing balm of lubricant".

There are people who will tell you 9/11 was a false flag operation, including fbi/nsa senior employees. I can't help wondering whether it was known all along what was being planned and 7/7 was allowed to play out to get us, amongst other events, to where we are now.

There are some seriously sick individuals in government, Theresa May is just the visible tip of the turd burg and we just steamed into it at 22kts.

Incidentally, I think the sociopaths charter even breaks Magna Carta! Isn't that a pleasant thought?

Commercial suicide

I just had a thought, this bill will murder investment in the UK.

Imagine it,

You want to send sensitive company data to any employees, securely, you can't.

You want to leave said data on an intranet with web access securely, oh look, you can't.

You want to research a company with a view to a takeover, in private, hah some chance

Even if I'm being overly paranoid, if companies haven't legged it because of brexit, they'll be leaving in droves if they can't rely on secure internet as a general principle.

It's commercial suicide.. Especially since we're a service economy.. Cue the Jarrow Dataminers strike 2017..

Against British Law

This is purely and simply against the law.

It makes a mockery of Anti discrimination laws that are currently in statute, protecting LGBT individuals so its impossible to implement. And that's just an example off the top of my head. It is illegal under UK law to reveal someone's status without their express permission. This would out every single LGBT individual in the UK so fast their feet wouldn't touch. Expect privacy for your 3 year old trans child? Yeah right, social services will know before you can sign up to the mailing list.

Oohh look, this person was researching cancer or hiv treatments - let's blackmail them by threatening to tell their employer. Ooh this student is researching and doing a modern day Kinsey report.. Paydirt... And hes black? Double Paydirt and he's Muslim??! *cue a when Harry met Sally scene* or that overlogging episode from South Park...

I think our German royal family should either get the chop in their entirety or sent back where they came from. Danny Dyer might be a rude, arrogant chimpanzee of a man, but at least he's English (sorta). We could always have an independent royal complaints committee - three strikes and you're impaled up the bottom in Hyde Park.

And why, pray tell, do the food standards and anything to do with Wales need to know about my personal information? The only reason I'd go there again (family holidays, it didn't end well) would involve the more modern denizens of Bovingdon tank museum and a broad interpretation of "omelettes & eggs".

Heinrich Himmler must be laughing himself sick!

I'll have to ring Putin and see if he's got any Junin going spare... A nice dose of irony that, wiping out the conservatives with a Argentinian disease..

Not a technical question...

But doesn't heat rise under the normal scheme of things?

So why on earth have your storage and router, which are probably the most heat sensitive at the top, directly above the biggest heat generators in the room?

Wouldn't it be better to have them on the bottom (above flooding levels) or in the middle (where there's a risk of flooding) so they don't get kfc'd in short order?

Small ISPs 'probably' won't receive data retention order following IP Bill

Jemma

Don't we have a treason act to deal with these people?

Treason is the action or actions of a person or persons against the will, safety, security or rights of the country/population involved.

This Snoopers bill destroys any right to privacy whatsoever, since someone can be traced via a switched off phone, by their car if it happens to be one of those spavined electrics (talking to the company etc) and so on. Anything we do, researching something like the welrod for a school project and being Muslim with intent, ooh your gonna assassinate reichsfuhrerin May.. Clue clumping police retards tramping about finding nothing (you hope). I'd love to see how secure our bank records would be too (spent 3k on a transit van for your business, and you're non white, TERRORIST BOMB PLOT).

It is against our safety and security because it will be perceived as racist (because quite frankly it is) and this will often be enough to push potential bombers over the edge, therefore risking our general safety (including that of muslims BTW) and security. Even when idiot cops are warned by one of the foremost experts in a particular industry that potential terrorists are trying to buy materials they're ignored.. Cue two bombings.

I've yet to meet anyone who thinks this is a bright idea or something that they want or like the idea of..

On top of all of that it makes us look like the racist scum of the planet.. Which label personally I don't deserve and nor do most of us (excepting the Tory government of course).

Over and above that, this is the SECOND time they've tried to get this crap through under the radar..

This parliament can trace its roots back to a revolution against a king who amongst other things ignored the will of the people, put the population at risk of violence, abused their trust and eventually got his head chopped off for his trouble. It might want to think on that before it repeats history. I'm sure someone has a rusty chainsaw spare....

And here is one for the sociopathic racists - you might have heard of a chap called Douglas Bader, his family happened to be of German descent. You were saying?

USS Zumwalt gets Panama tug job after yet another breakdown

Jemma

Umm..

Isn't salt water & fresh water a somewhat different density? Hence submarines bouncing off holoclines (I think that's the word)... And getting sunk.

If the seals on the bearings are marginal for sea water won't they leak like a sieve when they've got fresh water running through them, more to the point why would you pull water from outside into them when people will possibly be firing at you, one hit in the wrong place, cooked bearings and you're dead in the water.

This thing seems to be about as bright an idea as a liquid sodium reactor, a device that made the Chernobyl style reactors look fantastic. I mean what could possibly go wrong with a reactor coolant that explodes in fresh air, explodes even more in water and leaks more readily than a Royal Oilfield or Driptroit Diesel.

Given some of the stuff that's been designed recently, recent election results, and other bright ideas (electric cars, when our electricity grid was designed by Lucas) I am beginning to think humanity has reached peak fsckwit.

Re: Police in court?

I have many reasons to loathe Police officers, since the first time I requested their "help" at age 13, including but not limited to.

1. Being lied to by the Police on so many occasions I can't keep up with them.

2. Being physically assaulted by them

3. Being run off the road deliberately by them, at high speed, for no discernible reason that even *they* could come up with for an excuse. Not to mention the local piggies dismal driving abilities - I'm amazed they don't wipe out four or five motorists a month, around here they're a menace.

4. Physical assault

5. Verbal abuse

6. Being deliberately lied to as a victim of crime.

7. Being subject to death threats which were ignored by said piglets, regarding being a member of a minority religion.

8. Their almost universal complete ignorance of any part of the UK law that they happen to disagree with, and disregard thereof.

YMMV may vary of course, I have the pleasure of the company of Essex police, a group of people that take the arts of incompetence, discrimination and downright asshole-ery to levels that would have the NKVD calling "time out".

If you "bothered to do your research" you would find that May has made it law that Police cannot be brought to law via legal aid - which effectively means people of normal means have to rely on the IPCC which I can speak from personal experience are a joke. Anyone who has money and sues or attempts to prosecute the Police can look forward to abuse, harassment at the least.

How do I make this clear? Ah yes. Were I to come across piggies in a burning car, I'd pop to the nearest sainsburys for some barbecue chicken wings and a pair of tongs, barbecue for the use of. Anyone else I'd be happy to help.

Jemma

Police in court?

And "The flight waiting at gate 6 is the 13:35 flying pig to JFK...."

I'll believe it when I see it. Which is about as likely as Jimmy Saville being the first awardee of the "lifelong achievement in kiddiefiddling" award. Last I heard the police were effectively immune to prosecution on the orders of the Reichsfuhrerin.

Re: lack of stealth ?!

He was mates with Hannah Reich and had to interrogate her when the allies got their paws on her, he from his own account was not impressed with how she'd changed - he was most impressed with the 262 however. The he 177 grief (very apt name) not so much, controls were too light (still at least his didn't catch fire).

As to the carrier landings he held the world record at something like 2500 in the most different aircraft, the Navy tried to have one of their men compete - the guy got to 1400 or so, and then ended up going doolally from the stress of it. I have no doubt Brown would have tried a carrier landing in a B36 if he knew he could get away with it, but he never ever took unnecessary risks, that's why he survived.

I think I recall him saying of the 163B that it was dangerous in two ways, one the hypergolic fuels (that were explosive on their own as vapour "whatever you do... Don't bounce (Cos you wont have time to blink)" and because the aircraft out performed the pilots brain. I think from memory he's the only pilot to forget to drop the dolly, do a circuit and land, and not either be blown to smithereens or spend the next 6 months having his spine rearranged.

I'm not sure whether this is right but depending on the radar set I would imagine the propeller of the aircraft would make for a large contact, depending on the scan rate of the radar compared to the rpm of the prop what the radar might see is a huge contiguous metal plate that's about as stealthy as Farage's agenda.. A 45 degree angled panel front fairing in front of a ducted fan prop might solve that problem partially... Oh and an electric starter would be a good idea.

Jemma

Re: lack of stealth ?!

I wouldn't, from all accounts they had some nasty habits, especially on take off, get it wrong or back off the throttle at the wrong time and they'd go into the nastiest strangest stall I've ever seen, one managed to kill two expert pilots and even the air crash investigation people were flummoxed until they talked to some of the ww2 pilots, I can't remember what caused it but it was REALLY obscure.

Re: Could carry the SLAM-ER

If they decided on the Albacore, the Stringbag's slightly younger brother, it'd be able to carry the AGM-131, or SRAM II. A 1930s nuclear bomber, I'd love to see Winkle Brown's face at the thought..

Jemma

Stringbag for president...

It's probably more lucid and definately spits out less crap (except on a really cold morning).

And it probably does more miles to the gallon than the average US car too so it's good for the environment (the F35 doesn't count, it hasn't been able to stay up long enough for people to work it out).

I'd stay away from ASDA petrol though..

And if I was Russia or China, and I was very clever, I'd scoot over with a few of my own timed to go off about 48 hours after he is reported to leave UK shores... And then just quietly mention something to the US media about that "nice British lad".

I don't think he should be tried at all, the onus should be on the system owner to secure it.

Re: More a storm than a quake

That's not unusual, and having a swarm of earthquakes is a whole lot better than having a single massive quake because the displacement will be less abrupt, therefore less violent.

It also helps being on thicker sediments rather than rock (acts like a shock absorber, hence the Nepal earthquake doing so much damage in comparison) but you want them to be dry, if they aren't you get liquifaction - which is bad, or liquifactive slump which is worse (basically an upper area of resistive sediment slides over another on a thin layer of liquidity and whole villages and towns either migrate for anything up to several miles or slide into the nearest body of water.

And for heaven's sake, if the tide suddenly goes out 3 miles, you do not want to give the little fishies mouth to mouth! Unless you want a Darwin Award.

You can also track volcanic activity with earth tremors, as the magma rises up the vent system the triangulation of the (small) earth tremor depth will get shallower.

Of course, it could just be a graboid...

Re: I, for one ...

Which one? Trump or May?

Jemma

Re: The room of people who will control Trump

It's not a matter of what he manages to do, that is supremely unimportant.

It's what he says he is going to do, how he acts, what he says and the image he presents of the country that just elected him.

And let's put it this way...

Yesterday America was a (somewhat declining) world superpower with real power and influence..

Today America is a utter worldwide laughing stock that people in general think is under the influence, that will haemorrhage allies as soon as everyone has suspended their disbelief.

But the fun part - we're your allies (please Theresa, do something about that ASAP btw) and we'll be the ones suffering the terrorist bombs because of it, thanks for that!

Handing Trump the presidency is like putting Dr Mengele in charge of the NHS - there is no upside.

Jemma

Re: First of all, sorry

If you voted once in your life, sorry, yes you did. History is merely a prologue to future, if we have one. When the president of the Philippines decides to ally his country with China and Russia on the *possible* basis of a Trump win, a country that's been a solid supporter of the US practically since people noticed it was there (the US not the Philippines), you know there'll be trouble. My grandfather was at the battle of Cable Street amongst other things and he always had a saying "if you don't like saying sorry, don't do it in the first place...". There is not enough sorry in the galaxy to make up for it if Trump wins.

I've been to the US, I know how far down the racism goes, but even I thought the average American might listen to THE ENTIRE REST OF THE WORLD SAYING "HELL NO!".

I would personally like to thank all the Trump voters on behalf of my nieces, I'm sure the eldest will be ecstatic when it sinks in that she probably won't see her 16th birthday.

As to the founding fathers I would hope they're spinning in their graves fast enough to light Texas, but I doubt it.

Personally I thought "Lithium & water.. That's another fine mess you've gotten us into".

I think I'm right that dumping lithium in water makes for some good secondary school chemistry experiment as well as both hydrogen and oxygen gases... Possibly not the best combination in a container on a plane that's doing the thick end of 600mph at angels 35?

You could make a handy bomb out of those two components, kind of like an up to date Von Rintelens Cigar.

One thing with this Spinach mine detector idea, wouldn't it be better in places like Vietnam to spray it from the air in a small area, and see if local plants show the effect as strongly? Because as I understand this you've got to traipse around planting spinach or injecting random plants (some of which are more than capable of taking extreme exception to being touched) in the middle of potential minefields.. Not a job conducive to general health.. While avoiding such lovable critters as Russell's Vipers and Blue Striped Coral snakes..

I've a feeling this one of those "great ideas in the lab but this is real life" situations.

I can't really think of any place to use it.. A nuclear accident, you'd know you were contaminated when you started to melt (or in the case of Chernobyl, the fish got sleepy), a chemical accident like Bhopal - you know when your lungs have climbed out of your chest to complain personally.. It's a clever idea, like the spiders spinning graphene webs but I can see a use for them, for this I just can't.

Finally, that tech fad's over: Smartwatch sales tank more than 50%

Jemma

I forgot to mention my first smart watch...

Was a chunky thing made by Fossil. Two CR2025 batteries with a battery life into months, running a GUI over a version of DOS, no touchscreen, a little joystick for navigation and the most godawful keyboard on the planet. Even ran a spreadsheet! I used that for tracking fuel consumption amongst other things.

There was even a demo app of the backgrounds of the old castle Wolfenstein 3D game which was going to be developed into the full game (which probably would have been nausea inducing).

The point is... If they'd put a hdmi out and a OTG enabled USB on a successor plus the ability to take sdhc cards, you'd have a fairly capable x86 PC sitting there just needing a spare monitor and keyboard. Imagine having all the drivers and relevant info for the it system on an inch x inch PC. I would have loved to carry something like that about instead of piles of cds to sites in the backend of nowhere, where it was guaranteed that the one thing you needed was the driver for the hardware that had been retired decades ago, honest.

Instead we've got shiny useless shiny, I just love progress..

Jemma

I spent twenty quid on mine..

It can answer calls & play music over Bluetooth although it's not exactly a stellar experience, it lasts between a day and a day and a half at least, depending I suspect on whether the phone supports LE.

It means I don't miss messages or emails, its also safer glancing at the notification on the screen than fumbling around with a mobile phone in a traffic jam for example.

That being said its not worth £300 and neither is the general functionality of any of them, it's basically the second screen of a HTC startrek (remember them?) stuck on the wrist, which allows information to be picked up in a timely manner.. For that it's perfect..

I think the problem for Apple isn't necessarily their price point but that there's no way to go from here. Faster processor, yes, but that's about it, people won't buy another one until it breaks (even fanbois have some self control) and that's the reason behind the slump.

Another problem Apple have is all the generic cheap watches barely function with iOS so people who might have tried a cheap one before buying the Apple model can't, and that's more customers lost to Apple mind control.

It's a good idea for notifications that you need to see right away and that's about it. It didn't have to be that way, imagine what could be done with a double wide screen or a t9 keyboard, like on some of the wrist phones ... But Apple did the running so everyone emulated the minimum as usual..

‘Alan Turing law’ to give posthumous pardons to 59,000 men for 'gross indecency'

Jemma

Re: teenage popsy (and that's not insulting at all)

See, there's a problem there - as far as the law is concerned anyone under the age of 16 cannot agree to sexual activity, which means that she is also unable by law to refuse, since under the law anyone under the age of 16 is not mentally capable to make that decision either one way or the other.

Since rape relies on consent and your teenage celeb fodder can neither consent or refuse.. She therefore cannot be raped in a legal sense, since BY THE LAW she is incapable of making that decision.

That's child abuse law right up the pictures for a start..

Re: Warning - Full Rant mode...

Oh so it's OK to criminalise a consenting 14 year old couples is it? Or put a 15 year old girl on the sex offender registry because she has nude pics of HERSELF on her OWN phone? Despite the fact that a 10 year old can choose to end their own life under UK law? Quick someone call the paedo-finder general! *¹

Here's a thought, since sexualities are fixed between 5 and 8 years old (bar interference by celebrities in womble suits) let's teach kids at the right age about consent, safety and that "no doesn't mean yes especially when the prospective partner is too drunk to stand up", and let them get on with it. In stead let's charge the dried up old bat or godbothering prodnose* who gets involved when it's nothing to do with them. And for fusks sake stop INTERFERING WITH PEOPLE'S SEXUALITIES. If some teenager wants to be disembowelled by her boyfriend during a birthday shag its no business of anyone else's, if that's her decision, then that's her choice, and no one else's.

And we'd have a whole lot less sexual screw ups if we got rid of school counsellors who role play as Irish Catholic nun/religious nutcases and those lovely sex ed videos that were last in copyright somewhere around the time the internal combustion engine was invented.. Its amazing that any one manages to have kids if you ever watched those, you'd need a puncture repair kit and a swimming costume according to one I was subjected to! And that's just for foreplay...

I don't think that the brexit referendum was over whether we should have a proven right wing nutcase in power, it was about staying in or going out of Europe. It's no wonder the Scottish parliament are trying to get another devolution referendum going, who would want to be associated with such a poisonous government?

We need an election as soon as possible, ideally a complete hard reset of parliament. No one allowed to stand who has previously & the current parties dissolved. It'll cause chaos for a bit, but chaos is better than many years of May & all being considered representatives of a Nazi state.

Ack, still need that brain bleach, the thought of May rubbing one in, is enough to turn a girl straight!

Re: Saying it with Flashman...

You forget she's been home office or whatever they're calling it this week for years, and sociopathic nutcase doesn't even come close.

In that three months she's managed to:

Piss off Europe to the point that if WW2 started next week everyone would gang up to invade us, blitzkrieg in the community so to speak..

Basically flat out told Putin (who makes Suslov & Stalin combined look like fluffy bunnies) that he needn't worry about our nukes.. They can't really reach anything important (the nuking 100,000 comment, the biggest city we can reach is basically the Russian equivalent of Milton Keynes).

Add to that stirred up more racist feeling than a Turk in Armenia singing "two world wars, one genocide" in an Armenian squaddies bar - and then put the boot into the labour for playing whack-a-jew whilst conveniently forgetting the right club (conservative MPs dedicated to getting shot of Jews in parliament).

That's not to mention basically making the police invulnerable to prosecution, and enabling all the bigots, rapists and sociopaths thereof to do just what they like without comeback..

Then there's dumping asylum seekers who had been accepted as kids out when they're 18, when they're still at risk of being murdered AND THEN SLATHERING IT ALL OVER THE INTERNATIONAL MEDIA so the murderer can be waiting for his niece off the plane..

I don't know about you but if it came to a choice between Uncle Adolf and Auntie Theresa, I'd be picking Effendi - he might have been bigot di tutti bigots but he was at least honest about it and was democratically elected. I must have missed the election that put Reichfuhrerin May and the Kinnwenigerprincip into office..

Note: Hitler espoused the Fuhrerprincip (find someone, suitably racist, who says he can do the job and then interfere in everything until they go nuts), Cameron & May the Kinnwenigerprincip, or chinless principle (find someone who went to Eton, (and had a chin that melds seamlessly with his Adam's apple) and hope fervently no one notices he's clueless, racism being a given of course; provided no one actually refers to the East End as "Bongo-bongo land" in public.. too often)

Re: The magic has gone

"thinking", "companies" and "training" in the same sentence? Wow you've got high hopes...

I had training written into my contract at one company, who will remain nameless, did I get it? Not a chance, and then to cap it off we got taken over by rednecks and my boss quit and I was constructively dismissed on the basis I hadn't had the training to deal with the new system, you know the training that wasn't that breached my contract of employment in the first place, over and above the sociopathic "contractor" hired as a hatchet man..

This happened probably 15 years ago now, it's nothing new.

The employment laws in this country bear about the same relation to reality as Hollyoaks, and since we now have Reichfuhrerin May in charge it'll only get worse. Here, that's a thought, Amazon work camps, oh wait we've got those already..

Saying it with Flashman...

Name the biggest born fools who joined parliament in the 20th -century – Gummer, Major, Mellor, Kinnock, Vaz – I knew them all.

But I still state unhesitatingly that for pure, vacillating stupidity, for superb incompetence to command, for racism beyond the call of duty combined with epic bad judgement – in short, for the true talent for catastrophe – Theresa May stands alone. Others abide our question, but May outshines them all as the greatest political idiot of our own or any other day.
