MPAA threat sparks White House petition for bribery probe

Caffeine Junkie

It may not be bribary, but is it right?

The bottome line is do these polititions represent the people who paid for their campaigns or the people who voted for their campaigns?

It's fine taking money from lobbyists if you do believe in their goals, but make it clear to the people who are voting what your agenda is.

They should all have to declare as part of their campaign which "special interests" group contributed to their campaign. Then if people still vote for them it's their own fault.

Daily Mail? Really?

Have we started believing everything the Daily Mail publishes now?

Has Steve Jobs killed the consumer hard disk industry?

what they said...

I'm certainly not going to be storing hundreds of gigabytes of HD camcorder footage in the iCloud. Its bad enough streaming 25Mbps video from the PC upstairs to the TV, god knows what it would be like from the internet.

People can predict the demise of the consumer HDD market as much as they want. I'd put my money on the weather predictions being more accurate than this.

Just fail.

This is exactly what my kids school does. Swipe card for lunches...

Still not recovered yet

I'm in Swindon and my service has been patchy at best today. It rotates between No Signal, Signal with Edge data connection, and Signal with alleged 3G data connection (but with no actual connectivity)

What happens when...

.. every car has this inbuilt radar? There must be a limited set of freqencies for them to use. If every car is sending out radar pulses all the time wont they interfere with each other?

If a device isn't authorised then the network port should be blocked. Authorised machines should detect if unauthorised usb devices are attached and flag it with security.

The company I work for does this and it's not tasked with running the country.

Incompetent fools.

Microsoft trades goodwill for TomTom Linux satisfaction

Does this really mean MS is anti open source?

I don't know the merits of the case so I'm not going to say Microsoft should win or lose this case but thats not the point.

The open source community seem to think that the phrase "Open Source" is a sheild making them immune to IP laws. Never mind the fact that TOMTOM inc. make loads of money from selling these devices.

Open source does not absolve people from IP laws and does not give you free reign to steal other peoples ideas.

Sky hints at 3D TV launch

Stop

Just the facts maam, just the facts.

The 3D demos that Sky have been doing do not use Red/Green glasses, but use polarised light (grey glasses) like in the cinemas. Phillips have a TV that doesnt need glasses but I'd be worried about viewing distance and angle with that one.

I think some admins may have an inflated opinion of themselves.

You guys acting like he was the champion of the system.

Making out he's the hero protecting the computers from the Idiots.

He's an Admin! He greases the wheels and makes sure the system keeps working. Just like the cleaners, and the janitors (except the plumbing is a bit more complicated). These are the systems that enable the real workers to actually do the work.

I'm a developer so I understand the need to overinflate our own importance but in an environment such as the case above the networks are not the reason for the organisations existance. Just a utility.
