Now that they have (legitmized (sort of)) a "vote" with their money with the passing of "Citizens United"(sic) make 'em all private and responsible across the board. They asked for it. Perhaps it'll serve to trim down to size that overly exposed and imposed gambling institution over there on Wall St. Maybe they'll actually issue jail time for future crooks. It should also create alot of jobs for all those lawyers out there with nothing better to do. Perhaps another 50x(?) Attorneys general + sub staff positions. Just what the libertarians want. <burp>

Documenting change

Doesn't the term *upgrade (sort of) imply adding features... specifically with software? To me it's something beyond a patch collection. One expects it to do the same functions faster or more efficiently, perhaps more security hardened, but expanding functionality is part of an *upgrade, which is a new purchase... which generally includes a new licensing agreement negotiated for each new purchase.

Not that people don't go from Brandx.5 to Brandx.6 because they just want to feel/say they have the newest, and that they never do anything new with it, but.

It sounds like each piece of software now needs to first make available for us a program which will provide us with documentation of the consent we give to install it, and separate documentation for every installation of any and all new/additional programs/features in the future. That oughta provide a coupla two-tree coders a gig for a while...

Identity crisis

It's not too much to record, but perhaps track. It's not like the internet is *naturally anonomizing. "Close enough" here is easy enough to (eventually) figure out by correlation of all that data/history that's being collected.

It sounds surprisingly similar <ahem> to the spawn of satan's push for "big data". So when the government does it in the guize of security, it sucks, but when corporations do it to try to sell you a set of tires for that car you just bought... well... ok, that sucks too.

... and all actions will be through a government sponsored proxy...

I have little doubt that this isn't already (basically) happening.... there are no reasonables to think otherwise. (have you ever done a tracert without some hop along the way not telling you *who it is?) Maybe not for idea control (whatever), but what's the functional difference between a copier/slurper and a log on a proxy other than the intent to announce itself?

More specifically... and I have the logs to prove it... let's take a look at the percentage of personal content that you use work email for... some data that doesn't involve your "opinion".

So, after review, the answer is "with that, you waste our time and resources on the internet+personal emails during work hours, and you certainly don't (almost never) connect in and do work after hours to balance things out". Your *need to be plugged in 24 hours a day doesn't have anything to do with supporting your work ethic.

Paid for gets *unbiased -vs- unpaid for receives *biased. Some kinda business plan must be allowed for... this *seems to work... kinda.... for half of us... probably... maybe not...

How about a mandatory3... no, 4... no.... 5 word search/fields... then just deliver the results in custom order (eg. sort by a number of different "whatever you choose" guidelines) which can be changed every time and/or follow a default value set for your browser/user combo. Then you only have (well more of) yourself to blame about the results. Actually... that should be available now just to see how consistent the current results are.

Aren't they already following "trending" (so-to-speak) and having pre-compiled search results delivered... even if just to speed things up and ease up concurrent processing requests? (disregarding issues with how it was compiled in the first place). You can't expect them to do everything and offer it *free... can you?
