I have a Kindle and a Sony ereader. Most of the books and all of my subscriptions are on the Kindle. I have a number of friends with ereaders. We are out there and buying.

Let's watch the next session of Congress extend Copyright to 500 years after death AND decide that there is NO fair use of anything. Watch for libraries to be outlawed within 5 years and video rentals to be outlawed withing 10 years.

Maybe the aggregators should charge AP to be included in their services since AP benefits from it.

There used to be such a thing as fair use. It seems that some corporations won't be happy until all fair use laws are destroyed. The next thing to be made illegal are libraries for allowing people to read content they haven't paid for.

parasites?

It is hard for me to see how Google is a parasite (pardon the grammar, I'm a Yank). All they do is provide links to the original news source. If they have ads and can make money for providing that service, great. Let the newspapers make money providing the news itself. If it can't be done with ads, then some other means should be thought of without blaming Google who only sends more traffic their way.

Oh, I prefer to read my newspaper on my Kindle. It has the portability advantages without the inky mess.

No, I think they are illustrating the opposite. There are multiple anti-virus programs, multiple word processors, multiple music players, so the question is "how is this any different?"
