Arrest made over data-stuffed eBay laptop hard drive

The laptop was actually found

When I have my Laptop stolen at Christmas the Police said they didn't even bother investigating these incidents as they are so common and 'not worth their time'. At no time did they ask what I did or the type of information stored on the laptop.

So there has to be a lot more to this..................

Or is the Police suddenly on the ball again. I doubt it.

Finding a stolen laptop on eBay is easy look for people selling them with a low rating. Also examine the picture and description 'a few minor scratches' usually means some company name has been scratched off. Several companies do see them legimately but they are usually big operations and charge VAT on their price.

How do I know all this I was looking for my laptop which was stolen. Did I find it. No but I found lots of other peoples. eBay are terrible at stopping this. The only way to report stolen item being sold on eBay is Buy the item and then report it to the police and then eBay will help you. There should be a rule that when you sell a laptop on eBay you must give its serial number when you list the item. This would make it much easier to track down your missing stuff................But I guess that's not what eBay wants

Paris because she looks after all her stuff. The stuff other people have of her...not that's a different matter

Security Verus Cost.....an analysis

The problem with Banks is that they are there to make a Profit. So when it comes to security they run a cost-benefit analysis. It will cost the Bank a £1,000,000 to fix this. My potential exposure to loss is £1,000,000. But factor in stupid customers who don't notice when they are being ripped off, will reduce this figure by a quarter. £750,000. Not changing the system means I won't have to retrain staff saving me another quarter. Figure down to £500,000. So crooks get away with £500,000. Customers take a hit of £250,000 and the Bank takes a hit of £250,000.

Saving the Bank £750,000. So next time you hear of a Bank quoting they are losing Billions through fraud you will now know why they don't do more to stop it. Because it would cost them more money to fix the problem.

And anyway if they do lose too much money they will just ask Gordon Clown for a hand out and he will willingly oblige.

Paris because I would have to explain this simple premise to her.

So as you see your security is determined by money.

Can I have my money back

I download (Freetard) and I buy DVD's (Paytard)

Does this make me a schizophrenic? and who can I sue

If I buy a DVD and never watch it can I have my money back if I don't watch it?

If I damage the disc (which kids frequently do) can I bring it back to the shop for a free replacement as its the license which costs the money?

If I buy a DVD and contrary to what it says on the cover it is rubbish can I sue for mis-representation?

If I buy a DVD for my young daughter (U Cert) and the disc is full of PG Cert Adverts. Can I sue?

If I buy a DVD for my daughter. (I buy a lot seeing as she has taken over the television) does she have to watch an advert about theft and stealing cars and mobile phones?

If I pay money for a DVD why does she have to watch adverts for their latest offering, which cannot be skipped? If I wanted to watch ads we could watch Bob The Builder on television with more sensibly placed ads.

No well I guess I will preview all my discs before I go and spend my hard earned cash on them.

And somebody further up the board ripped off a line from Red Dwarf. I have those disc's as well. except for Season 8 which was rubbish!! I had to pay for thse twice. Once on Video and once on DVD. Can I get a credit for the videos?

Oh and Paris because she reminds me of my next door neighbour

Is this a subscription service?

I wonder will the developer send him another crazy fun app next month and charge him another $1000.

And then another

And then another

And then another

Everyone is laughing at this guy. Not too many people were laughing when Crazy frog starting making inroads into their bank account??

But then I guess we are all to smart to fall for that one.

Paris because she would spend $1000 on a loser boyfriend to make her look good. Much the same as what has happened here

I suspect my neighbour

If your neighbour continues to drive too fast he will have his right to the road suspended by losing his license...........................

Now there is an idea. A license to use the internet. We could call it ECDL. European Computer Driving license. Then they could just give you points and charge you £30 per hit. More that 12 points.... You are outta here and some money as well. BRILLANT!!

I sending this one to Gordon Clown

My confidence soars

ID Cards and a Central Database will help fight terrorists. The only Terrorist I am concerned about at the minute is the clowns taking my Bank Details and anything else they can stick in a database and emailing it to any fool that asks for it.

On a lighter note nice to know that its a universal problem and that the Tories are just as stupid as the Labour when it comes to looking after others peoples stuff. I guess there is just no hope.

So stop shredding your papers and trying to protecting your identies, there's no point because no matter how careful you are its the rest of the (Gordon) clowns are just giving it away

Paris because when she gets her personal data stolen somebody get arrested. When its me I get a letter saying bad luck
